BERLIN — In late January and early February, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office conducted alcohol compliance checks at businesses throughout much of Ocean City and Worcester County, resulting in 11 locations being cited including one that failed twice in two days.
On Jan. 24 and Jan. 31, and again on Feb. 2, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department conducted compliance checks at 58 stores and restaurants throughout the county. Forty-seven of the establishments targeted did not sell alcohol to a minor during the compliance checks, while 11 did sell alcohol to a minor. One location, Pizza Tugos in West Ocean City, sold alcohol to a minor on Jan. 31 and again on Feb. 2.
Establishments that did sell alcohol to a minor on Jan. 24 included the Super Soda Center in Snow Hill, the Steer Inn Tavern, the 7-Eleven on 94th Street and the Royal Farms Store at 83rd Street. On Jan. 31, those businesses that sold alcohol to a minor included Buck’s Place, Smith’s Market in Showell, Pizza Tugos in West Ocean City and the Outback Steakhouse in West Ocean City.
On Feb. 2, businesses that sold alcohol to a minor included Ruby Tuesday’s in Pocomoke, Plaza Tapatia on Route 50, Marlin Market on Route 611 and Pizza Tugos in West Ocean City.
