Jordan "Jerry" Gill Simpson

OCEAN CITY— Jerry was born on Feb. 28, 1926, in Dougherty, Va., to the late Jordan and Dolcie Simpson.

On Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, Jerry made his transformation very peacefully while at Hospice at the Lake.

Jerry was a Navy veteran, which gave him his love for the water. He made his career as a legendary sport fishing boat captain.

Jerry was a lifelong member of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ann Simpson; his son, Gill Simpson and wife, Dot; daughter, Kathy Jarvis and husband, Lee; son, Jeff Simpson and wife, Maggie; and daughter, Susie and her partner, Reeven. He’s also survived by his grandson, Tim Simpson; granddaughter, Tracy Simpson; grandson, Jeffrey Simpson and wife, Patty; and granddaughter, Madison Alchin.

Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Gabe Simpson, Ethan Hansford and Lucas Simpson.

Jerry is also survived by his brothers, Mac Simpson and wife Betty, Albert Simpson and wife Raye and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was proceeded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Hastings; his beloved grandson and best buddy, Chase Alchin; and his four-legged loyal companion, Friskey.

Jerry donated his body to science.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, from noon-2 p.m. at the O.C. Marlin Club, 9659 Golf Course Rd., West Ocean City.

OCEAN CITY — Marie J. Hall, 68, of Ocean City, passed away peacefully at her winter home in Kissimmee, Fla. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, after a courageous fight with cancer for the past five years.

Marie was born on Feb. 2, 1943, in Buffalo, N.Y. to Peter Celotto and Sarah Joslyn. She graduated from Tonawanda Senior High School in 1960. She married Joseph T. Hall on June 27, 1964. For the past 40 years, they owned and operated Hall’s Family Restaurant in Ocean City. 
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jimmy Celotto. She is survived by her husband, Joseph, of Ocean City; her brother, Skip Celotto of Ocean City; her children, Joseph T. Hall II (wife, Bethany) of Ocean City; Catherine Hall-Devereaux (husband, Tony) of Ocean City; Mark Hall (wife Klaudia) of Ocean City; and Rochelle Hall of Kissimmee, Fla.; her eight grandchildren, Ashley, Tylor, Sydney, Lilly, Joseph III, Vanessa, Marie and Ava; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her foster-sister, Betty Miller, of Tonawanda, N.Y.; cousin, Fran Grafton, of Ocean City; and her friends, Joe and Cathleen Rossetti, of Kissimmee, Fla. and Betty Ruzylo, of North Tonawanda, N.Y.
A service was held on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at noon at Forest Lawn Cemetery and Garden Mausoleums in Buffalo, N.Y. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Ocean City.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Play It Safe Program, a charity dear to the family that sponsors high school graduates who choose to celebrate their graduation in Ocean City, Md. (www.playitsafeoceancity.org), Diakonia, who has been helping individuals and families in Worcester County by providing shelter, food, and clothing (www. diakoniaoc.org), or Solivita Cancer Support, in Poinciana, Fla.
