Support Appreciated
Editor:
I want to take a minute and thank everyone who sent me a Christmas card this year.
I have been a widow now for two years and I am looking forward to returning to Ocean City soon.

I especially want to thank St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, Holy Savior and St. Luke Catholic Church for all their prayers.

Thank you Jeff and Kate, John and Paula and the Dart Club in the Village of Newark. I’ll never forget you.

Bob is smiling and so am I.
Merry Christmas to all.

Shelter Benefit A Success
Editor:

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the Worcester County Humane Society dinner. It was held on Nov. 10, hosted by Captains Galley II Restaurant in “let’s get the holiday started” spirit.

Folks who came out on a drizzly night traveled from all directions for the event. The faithful group of 85 along with supporters, who couldn’t join us but didn’t forget the shelter animals generated $8,616 for the cause.

Jennah Lupiwok, Mindy Lupiwok and Glenda Buntnig organized a beautiful silent auction, a first for this annual dinner. Mary Yenney sold 50/50 chances (she’s a pro). Desserts by Rita donated a luscious decorated cake to top off a great Galley meal. Two very diligent women, Kelly Austin and Judy Galuardi, concluded their year-long $20,000 raffle and the winner was announced. Donnie Berkey spun tunes all evening and tracked down that lucky winner via his bloodhound cell phone.

Vital contributors to the fundraiser were the following businesses: Atlantic Retreat, Donald’s Duck Shoppe, Harborside Bar and Grille, Mark Douglas Jewelers, Mione’s Pizza, NRG, OMH! Hair Salon, Parties Your Way, Paws and Claws, Quality Inn Hotel, Robin Walter Salon and Day Spa, Selbyville Pet and Garden Center, Sinepuxent Apiary, TaDa, The Greene Turtle, The Palette Restaurant, The Treasure Chest and Waterman’s Seafood Restaurant.

Everyone knows this time of the year especially turns many hearts to charity. Tops on the list are those with no voice — unfortunate children and animals. The caregivers at this shelter wish to thank all the people mentioned here who are among the many angels willing to share something with the “no voices” in our community.

The Humane Society is located on Eagles Nest Road. To make arrangements for adoption or volunteering, please call 410-213-0146. Visiting hours 11 a.m.-3 p.m., closed Wednesday and Sunday.

Happy New Year to all.
