Fellow Status Obtained

BERLIN – Colleen Wareing, vice president of patient care services at Atlantic General Hospital, recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders.

Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. In fact, only 5,400 healthcare executives hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional and community involvement.

Wareing, who has more than 20 years of healthcare management experience, holds a bachelor of science in nursing from University of Delaware and a master of science from Columbia Pacific. She is also certified through the American Nursing Credentialing Center in Nursing Administration – Advanced.

Wareing is privileged to use the FACHE credential, which signifies board certification in healthcare management and ACHE Fellow status.

“Certification validates experience and knowledge in specific areas of nursing, and throughout my career I have advocated for nurses to achieve certification professionally,” said Wareing. “Having personally maintained specialty certification in nursing for more than 20 years, achieving Fellow in ACHE was a personal goal to demonstrate achievement in healthcare overall.”

New Program Unveiled

BERLIN – Apple Discount Drugs, a locally owned Health Mart pharmacy, has announced a new program called Apple Makes Cents for Education. The program is designed to make it easy for people to give back to their local schools.

By simply shopping at the Berlin Apple location and the Snow Hill Pharmacy and dropping the receipts from each purchase into a labeled box, Apple will donate a portion of the total sales to the customer’s designated Worcester County school.

“Our students and schools are the future of our local community and economy,” said Apple Discount Drugs President Jeff Sherr. “We greatly appreciate all of the customers who believe in supporting locally owned businesses like Apple, and we want to thank them for their commitment to our business and the local economy by giving back to our local schools.”

For every one-dollar spent at a local business, 45 cents goes to the local community. It is an investment in the local economy and a show of support for the promotion of local jobs, according to Sherr.
