Robert F. ‘Captain Bob’ Gowar
FRANKFORD, Del. — Robert F. “Captain Bob” Gowar, age 73, of Frankford and formerly of Ocean City and West Palm Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
He was born in Elizabeth, N.J. and was the son of the late Michael C. and Anna H. (Breidt) Gowar.
He was a private boat captain for the Nichols family for nearly 30 years and was the captain of the “Bay Bee,” a bay charter fishing boat in Ocean City. He was a charter member of the Ocean City Marlin Club. He loved fishing and hunting. He was also a US Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nellie A. Gowar of Frankford; two daughters, Diane Love of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Anita Couillard of Berlin; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9 at the Ocean City Marlin Club, 9659 Golf Course Road in Ocean City with Pastor Ronald Soulsman officiating.

William (Bill) Bakos Laslo
BERLIN — William (Bill) Bakos Laslo, 84, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 24 surrounded by family.
Born July 20, 1927 to Andrew and Louise Molnar Bakos in Windber, Pa., he was the 16th child of 17 children. Upon his parents’ deaths, he was adopted by his father’s coal mining partner, Joseph and his wife Anna Laslo, and was raised as an only child. In his late teens, he was reunited with his siblings.
He served in the US Marine Corp in 1945-46 and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Concord College, Athens, W.Va. and a Masters in Education from George Washington University. He had a 30-year career in elementary science, outdoor education and curriculum supervision in Prince George’s County Public schools and retired in 1981. Bill also founded and operated Laslo Recreational Enterprises managing community swim clubs in Prince George’s County for many years. Bill was an organizer of the Prince Mont swim league. Later he became known as the “pool man,” a residential pool care specialist until 1997.
He was a founding member of the educators’ credit union in Prince George’s County in 1955 and later served on the board of directors of educational systems federal credit union for 20 years.
He married Cozette Sapp in 1954 and lived in Georgetown then later Forestville Md. He and Cozette (Cozy) had four children. In 1982 Bill married Monticello (Monti) Reynolds and resided in Springfield, Va. and eventually moved to Annapolis, Md.
Bill loved many outdoor sports including, hunting, crabbing, fishing, billiards and duck carving. Bill also enjoyed dancing, golf, snow skiing and travel. He did not meet anyone he did not like.
He is survived by his second wife, Monti; former wife, Cozette Laslo; a son, Steven Bruce Laslo; and three daughters, Tina Fullerton of Port Tobacco, Md., Michelle Hardman of Annapolis, Cindi Hargrove of Crownsville, Md.; and three grandchildren, Kyle Laslo, Chelsea Fullerton and Sierra Hargrove.
Friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, Dec. 10 for a celebration of Bill’s life from noon until his memorial service begins at 1 p.m. at the George P Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomon’s Island Rd, Edgewater, Md. Private interment will take place at a later date at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
