Mallards Snuff Dragons, Improve to 8-1

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team continued its winning ways this week, beating Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) rival Salisbury School, 4-2, on Tuesday.

With the win over the Dragons, the Mallards improved their season record to 8-1, their only loss coming to Don Bosco, 1-0, way back on September 17. Since then, Worcester has won five straight including the win over Salisbury School on Tuesday along with a 3-0 win over Holly Grove at home last Friday.

Against Salisbury School on Tuesday, Ryan McGuire led the Mallards with two goals, while Andrew Ternahan contributed one goal and one assist. Seth Conboy contributed Worcester’s other goal, while Harrison Brennan added an assist. The two goals scored by Salisbury School on Tuesday were the most allowed in a single game all season by the Mallards, who have outscored their opponents by a combined 30-8.

Worcester played Holly Grove on the road yesterday in a game played too late to be included in this edition. Holly Grove is 7-1 on the season and lurks right behind Worcester in the ESIAC standings, their only loss coming to the Mallards last Friday. The Mallards play Salisbury Christian on the road next Tuesday.
