BERLIN — A variety of ceremonies are planned throughout the community this weekend to mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Here’s a look at some of the events on tap:
)Salisbury University honors those who lost their lives during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the 10th anniversary of the tragedy.
The community is invited to gather in front of Fulton Hall by 8:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, for a ceremony including a vocal performance by tenor John Wesley Wright of the SU Department of Music.
A moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. commemorates the first plane crash into the World Trade Center, followed by a tolling of the Holloway Hall clock tower chimes.
The Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts sponsors the ceremony. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU web site at www.salisbury.edu.
A citizens group has formed to remember those who perished on that horrible day, Sept 11, 2001.
Since this is the 10th Anniversary, a brief ceremony is being planned for Sunday, Sept. 11 at noon, to recognize those heroes and to acknowledge the indomitable spirit of Americans.
The service will be held at the Veterans Memorial located on Route 589 and Cathell Road in Ocean Pines.
In the case of rain, the service will be move to the Ocean Pines Community Hall Assateague Room.
First responders will be remembered and honored. Everyone is asked to come a few minutes early, bring a chair and you are encouraged to wear red/white and blue.

Holy Trinity Cathedral at 11021 Worcester Hwy. in Berlin, will honor the fallen heroes and the first responders in the community at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Representatives of local police and fire departments will be present for the service. All are welcome. For more information or directions, call 410-641-4882.
On Sunday, from 2-3 p.m., Stephen Decatur High School will host a 10th Anniversary Commemoration event. Sponsored by the Bishopville Charge United Methodist Church, the event will feature guest speaker Lt. Col. Kenny Cox. Col, who distinguished himself by performing acts of heroism at the Pentagon after the crash on 9/11. No charge for this event. For more information, call 443-614-8420.
