Jean M. Roseman
OCEAN PINES — Jean M. Roseman, 84, of Warrenton, Va. and Ocean Pines, passed away Aug. 19, 2011 in Warrenton.
She was the wife of James F. Roseman with whom she shared 61 years of marriage prior to his death in 2010.
She was born in Williamsport, Pa., the daughter of Charles J. and Margaret D. McGrady. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and went on to work for the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and Harrisburg Hospital as a clinical instructor. She worked with the Salk Polio Vaccine program in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving Jean are her son, James, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Allentown, Pa.; her daughter, Jill Leffler of Fairfax, Va.; her grandchildren, David Roseman, Daniel Roseman, Stephanie Leffler Noble and Jennifer Leffler Graham; and her great-grandchildren, Madison, Macie, Brooks and Caroline. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles J. McGrady, Jr.
Jean was cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Community Church of Ocean Pines.

Raymond Moulton Sawyer
OCEAN CITY — Raymond Moulton Sawyer, 83, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Haverhill, Mass. In 1928, he was the son of the late Burton Lawrence Sawyer and Eunice Appleton Moulton Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Wheeler Sawyer.
He graduated from Haverhill public schools in 1945 and Boston University in 1948 with a degree in business. He was employed by the U.S. Air Force as a civilian with an accomplished career serving as an auditor, and retired in 1983 from the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He served in the Mass. National Guard from 1945 to 1951, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 with the rank of Captain.
He was a 60-year member of the Merrimack Lodge, F&AM in Haverhill, MA, as well as, AARP. He was an avid writer of opinion pieces to local and national newspapers, with an interest in politics. He had a special love for the welfare of animals and helped in numerous ways in Ocean City.
He is survived by his children, Douglas Burton Sawyer and his wife Francine of Villa Park, Calif., Laurie Evelyn Born and her husband Michael of Johns Creek, Ga., Kenneth Raymond Sawyer of Richardson, Texas, Susan Gail Sawyer of Alexandria, Va. and Stephen Lawrence Sawyer of Costa Mesa, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Keith Leech, Valerie Sawyer Gaskins, Nicole Born Higgins, Kimberly Sawyer, Michael Sawyer, Natalie Born, Patrick Born, Andrew Sawyer and Kaitlyn Sawyer; and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by a cousin, Arthur Foss of Plantation, Fla., and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Sawyer and a sister Evelyn Sawyer.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at 4 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Friends may call one hour prior to the service for visitation. Interment will be held on Sept. 10, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Walnut Cemetery in Haverhill, MA. Albrecht K. Krannebitter
SELBYVILLE — Albrecht “Albee” K. Krannebitter, 75, of Selbyville and formerly of Baltimore, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
He was born in Baltimore and was one of six children of the late Karl and Gertrude (Schedley) Krannebitter.
Albee was a supervisor for AT&T for many years and was a member of the Ocean City American Legion and Ocean City Elks. He attended Holy Trinity Cathedral in Berlin and was also a Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Krannebitter of Selbyville; two daughters, Cynthia Loskot and her husband Dr. James Loskot of BelAir and Stefanie Gordy and her husband Gregg of Bishopville. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Riley, Logan, Mason, Sofia and Sadie Rose. He is also survived by a brother, Edward, and two sisters, Hilda and Trudy.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jospeh and a sister, Catherine.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 11021 Worcester Hwy. in Berlin with Father Larry Hill officiating.

Leland E. “Betty” Hyle
OCEAN CITY — Leland E. “Betty” Hyle, age 67, of Ocean City, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
She was born in Baltimore and was the daughter of the late Frederick and Jeannette (Malstrom) Huesman.
Betty had been a registered nurse for over 25 years at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was a graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore and the Church Home and Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member and past president of the Berlin-Ocean City Opti-Ms Club.
She is survived by her husband of over 45 years, John S. “Jack” Hyle of Ocean City; two sons, Sean F. Hyle and Matthew J. Hyle, both of Baltimore; two daughters, Lisa Hyle Marts (Chris) of Darlington, Md. and Elizabeth J. Annick-Hyle (Tyree) of Philadelphia; two sisters, Priscilla Glass of Monroe, N.C. and Mary Rose Cortezzo of Baltimore; three grandchildren, Ellie and Charlie Marts and Cordelia Hyle.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, Sept. 2 at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville. Friends may call an hour before the service.

Mary Annette Altvater
OCEAN CITY — On Aug. 24, 2011, Mary Annette Altvater, beloved wife of the late Edgar J. Altvater, Jr., passed away.
She was the loving mother of Barbara Johnson and husband, Charles, Catherine James, John Altvater and wife, Joann, Mark Altvater and wife, Donna; beloved grandmother of; Karen, the late Carol, Candiss, David, Tara, Jeanette, Janet, Brandon, Heather and Adam; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Altvater was part owner of the National Pike Crab House in Howard County and House of Crabs in Ocean City. She was also a former member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Catonsville, Md.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ocean City; President of AARP for two years, an Elks member, and a senior citizen dance group that performed at different events in Ocean City.
Mrs. Altvater enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, traveling and visiting Las Vegas.
Family received friends on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011 at Witzke Funeral Homes, Inc. in Columbia, which hosted the funeral services on the same day. Interment followed in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, Md.
