Tickets Now On Sale For Dew Tour’s Stop In Resort

OCEAN CITY – Dew Tour tickets are officially on sale for the event that takes place in Ocean City’s downtown area July 21-24.

For the first time in its six-year history, the Dew Tour is coming to Ocean City, the first stop of the four locations on the 2011 Tour. The other locations are Portland, Ore., Salt Lake City, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nev.

“Ocean City is going to be a little bit different for us because it is a new event,” a Dew Tour source said on Wednesday. “The size of the venue is new because it’s on the beach and we have all that open land.”

The Dew Tour is put on by Alli, the Alliance of Action Sports, which is a global business that encompasses national and international action sports tours and events, multimedia production, and a consumer-facing lifestyle brand.

Alli includes elements to complement the competitions such as the Festival Village, specialty competitions and live music. The Dew tour is also broadcast on NBC Sports, MTV, MTV2 and USA.

The tour features skateboarding, BMX, skateboard bowl, surf and freestyle motocross. The competition is based on a cumulative points system and there is more than $2 million in event and bonus purses awarded at the year’s end based on overall tour standings.

“What’s really exciting is not only we have the tickets but also so much of it is free,” the source said.

The Dew Tour’s free components include the Festival Village where fans can interact with the tour partners and attend athlete autograph sessions. All day Thursday the event is free to all, which is the day that includes practice rounds and open qualifying events. There will also be a free concert and a free night surf competition.

“Ocean City is the only place we are going to be having surf so we are going to be able to provide that to anybody that wants to come which is really exciting for us,” the source said.

Tickets are available for the Action Zone and General Admission. According to Alli, the Action Zone experience is the most exciting way to see the Dew Tour. It provides access to priority seating for all contests on the purchased day, in addition to official Dew Tour merchandise, athlete autograph session, Alli Shop merchandise discount coupon and cold Mountain Dew.

“It’s always better to get them [tickets] early,” the Alli source said. “The better the ticket the more you are guaranteed.”
