Chamber Leaders Announced

OCEAN CITY — The Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce recently announced its leadership positions for the next year.


Appointed to serve the remainder of her two-year term to expire Aug. 31, 2012 was Jamie Albright of Planet Maze, Lasertron, Lost Galaxy Golf.


Directors to serve a two-year term on the Board of Directors, to expire August 31, 2013, include Toni Keiser, Atlantic General Hospital; Stephanie Meehan, Funcade; and Michael James, Carousel Resort Hotel and Condominiums.


Serving the remainder of their three-year term, to expire Aug. 31, 2013, were Michelle Myers-Melson, Myers Tool Rental/Parties Your Way; Joni Waldych, Innovative Benefit Solutions; and Bob Thompson, Ocean Pines Association.

Appointed to serve a three-year term, to expire Aug. 31, 2014, were Greg Flemming, Fenwick Inn; Bill Herbst, La Hacienda Mexican Food & Spirits; and John Gehrig, D3Corp.


Additionally, serving as officers of the chamber for one year, expiring Aug. 31, 2012, are President Tom Perlozzo, Mid-Atlantic Marketing; President-Elect Buck Mann, Mann Properties; Vice President- Madlyn Carder, BJ’s on the Water; Secretary/Treasurer Brett Wolf, Professional Mortgage; and Past President, Ruth Waters, Harrison Group Resort Hotels.


Town Allows Online Payments

BERLIN — Mayor Gee Williams announced this month that recent improvements to the current billing system now allows customers the option of paying all utility bills online.

Williams said the process is easy to use and can be accessed by going to www.berlinmd.gov and following the few simple steps needed to set up an account.

After an account has been established, payments can be posted immediately. Customers can pay using MasterCard or Visa credit cards only, and no fees will be charged for using online bill paying services. After setting up an account, in addition to bill paying, other services include viewing payment history, billing, and kilowatt or water usage.

Top Producer Named

WILLARDS — Atlantic/Smith, Cropper & Deeley has announced Don Fentress as top insurance producer for April.

Fentress has been with the agency since 1980 and specializes in property and casualty insurance for local and regional business customers.

Accreditation Received

BERLIN – Wavelength Information Services, Inc., an Eastern Shore-based healthcare IT consulting firm, announced it has achieved full accreditation with the Management Service Organization Accreditation Program (MSOAP) from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC).

EHNAC’s MSOAP accreditation recognizes excellence in health data processing and transactions and ensures compliance with industry-established standards and HIPAA regulations.

Through the consultative review process, EHNAC evaluated Wavelength in areas of privacy and security, technical performance, business practices and organizational resources as it relates to Management Service Organization (MSO) policies and procedures.

“The EHNAC accreditation, endorsed by the Maryland Health Care Commission, positioned Wavelength to be evaluated against national industry established standards and best practices. It was an extensive process but we are pleased to have achieved this accreditation and to note that Wavelength is one of only two organizations within Maryland to have achieved this accreditation,” said Murray Oltman, President of Wavelength.

Medical Lab Honored

SALISBURY —     Medical Laboratory Observer, a peer-reviewed lab management publication, considered an expert resource since 1969, has named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Laboratory second runner up for Medical Lab of the Year 2011.

To celebrate National Laboratory Professionals Week, April 24-30, 2011, a panel of MLO judges reviews all of the submissions for Lab of the Year and selects a first place and two runners up. The categories used to select the winners are customer service, contributions to patient care, teamwork, productivity, efficiency, quality control, innovation and creativity. After thoroughly reviewing all submissions, the Lab at PRMC has been selected as one of the top three in the nation

Steve Leonard, Vice President of Operations Optimization and Innovation said, “This is a national level recognition and a great accomplishment for us,” as he congratulated the Peninsula Regional Lab Team.

The goal of the laboratory is for all patients to have an outstanding experience. To help achieve this goal the lab has undergone a number of changes in the past year designed to make the processes it performs each day more efficient.

“The recent changes in workflow and physical design allowed the laboratory to reduce the amount of time it takes to have results on key tests by 25 to 30%,” said Robin Mandelson, Director of Laboratory Services for PRMC.
