Former Seahawk Earns College Honors

BERLIN- Former Stephen Decatur High School softball standout Kylie Nottingham, now a freshman at Washington College, last week was named Centennial Conference Co-Player of the Week after an exceptional couple of games on the diamond.

Nottingham was named co-player of the week for the week ending April 3 after batting .474 (9-19) at the plate including two home runs, seven RBIs, 18 total bases and a .947 slugging percentage to go along with two doubles and a triple during the week. Nottingham went 5-8 against Haverford on March 29 and launched a three-run homer to give the Shorewomen an 8-6 lead they would not relinquish. Washington College trailed 6-0 in the game before Nottingham’s heroics at the plate.

In game two of the double header against Haverford, Nottingham hit a two run homer to lead the Shorewomen to the 12-10 win. Her efforts at the plate allowed Washington College to sweep a conference double header for the first time since 2006. In an earlier game against Muhlenberg, Nottingham hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Shorewomen a 4-3 win.

Nottingham shared co-player of the week honors with Maggie Maguire of Gettysburg and became the second Washington College player to earn the award this season. Last year, Nottingham’s sister Shae Nottingham, now a sophomore second baseman at Washington College, won Centennial Conference Player of the Week honors as a freshman.
