Designation Earned

OCEAN CITY — Connor J. Braniff of Ocean Point, Ltd in Ocean City recently joined the skilled group of community association managers who have earned the Association Management Specialist (AMS) designation from Community Associations Institute (CAI).

Braniff is now one of only 3,800 managers nationwide who have earned this level of professional recognition in the community association management field.

Braniff, an Ocean City native and a 2004 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and a 2008 graduate of University of Delaware with a bachelor’s of science degree in economics, has been employed by Ocean Point, Ltd for over two years and serves as a property manager for the firm. Ocean Point, Ltd has also been designated an Accredited Association Management company (AAMC) by CAI and is one of two on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

To earn the AMS designation, managers must have at least two years of experience in community association management and complete advanced course work. In addition, they must have already earned the basic industry certification for managers — the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) credential.

Professional property managers provide administrative, operational, and managerial counsel to community association boards. They are typically responsible for managing budgets and contractors, directing association personnel, and overseeing compliance with association covenants and restrictions.

CAI is the national organization dedicated to fostering vibrant, responsive, and healthy community associations. Some 50 million Americans live in community associations around the country, and CAI is responsible for training association managers to competently assist those associations.
