St. Pat’s Boardwalk 5K a Big Hit

OCEAN CITY- The first-ever St. Patty’s Day Boardwalk 5K last weekend was a huge success with 480 runners participating on a picture perfect parade day in Ocean City.

Sponsored by OC Tri-Running Sports, which produces several events and races in the resort area, the St. Patrick’s Day Boardwalk 5K ran last Saturday morning with 480 runners competing. The course started at Shenanigan’s and headed south on the Boardwalk toward the Inlet where it looped around the pier and headed north. From there, runners continued north on the Boardwalk to a turnaround spot at 15th Street before heading south again the Shenanigan’s.

For the record, Seth Kuchar of Lewes, Del., won the race, finishing just ahead of Chad Ahalt and Corey Zimmer, both of Ocean City, who finished second and third overall respectively. Corrine Banks of Ocean City was the top female finisher and came in 10th overall. Alyson Brabitz of Ocean Pines was the second-place female finisher.

Locals who finished in the Top 50 included Ahalt (2), Zimmer (3), Sean Rolleston, Berlin (4), Justin Rayman, Berlin (7), Banks (10), Christopher David, Ocean City (15), Don Parana, Berlin (17), Patrick Kirkpatrick, Ocean City (19), Brabitz (21) and Dawn Ehman Marohl, Ocean City (22).
