Bank Makes New Hire

BERLIN – Edward M. Thomas, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Bank of Delmarva, has announced that Brian C. Gottschalk has joined the Bank as Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending and Business Development. He joins the Bank with over 14 years of banking and financial services experience. 
Gottschalk’s office is located in Pelican Square on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach.

Top Sales Agent

BERLIN – Newport Bay Realty in West Ocean City announced that Realtor David Dypsky earned top sales for their offices during the last three quarters.

Dypsky, known to many locals as “The Waterfront Man”, sold the only single family home priced at over a million dollars in the area this year. He most recently sold Robert Clarke Construction’s custom Rum Pointe spec house for $1.285 million, according to a release issued this week.

New Coordinator Announced

OCEAN CITY – Re/Max Premier Properties has announced that Angela Urban has joined the firm as an office coordinator for the three offices located in Ocean City, Ocean Pines and Salisbury.

Urban brings many years of experience with the Centex Homes Eastern Shore Division in locations such as Ocean Pines and Berlin. She was director of marketing, office manager, new homes sales consultant and project manager over her years with the company.

New Director Appointed

SNOW HILL – Worcester County Health Officer Debbie Goeller recently appointed Tracy Tilghman as the new director of the county health department’s Mental Health Program.

Tilghman, a Pittsville resident, has been acting director of the program since May 2010. She’s a licensed clinical professional counselor and licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor.

In the 10 years Tilghman has worked at the Worcester County Health Department, she has provided services to a variety of populations in both school and clinic settings and provided short-term and long-term mental health treatment through individual, group and family therapies.

“Her experiences over the past 10 years will be valuable to her as she takes on this senior leadership role,” said Goeller. “We are excited to have her take the helm of this important program”.

The Worcester County Health Department’s Mental Health Program provides numerous services including individual, family and group counseling for adults and children, school-based counseling services, summer programs.

OCEAN CITY – The Town of Ocean City has been awarded the best Facebook page by readers of the Baltimore Sun in the publication’s annual Mobbie Awards. The Ocean City page has a highly active community of fans who regularly post updates about memories and vacation plans, and share tips with other visitors.

“The fans of the page are what really make it special,” said Mayor Rick Meehan. “It is great to see so many members of the community involved.”

To spur conversation, the page is updated frequently with information regarding events in Ocean City, photos and videos and other timely information. Questions are also posed to fans on the Facebook page, and contests and giveaways are conducted.

The Mobbie Awards recognized the best social media accounts and blogs in Maryland.

Firm To Manage Golf Course

OCEAN PINES – Billy Casper Golf (BCG), owner and operator of more than 125 golf courses, country clubs and resorts, has been selected to manage Ocean Pines Golf & Country Club.

The engagement increases BCG’s portfolio to 25 courses in the Mid-Atlantic.

At the semi-private Ocean Pines, the firm will oversee all aspects operations, marketing and public relations, staffing and training, merchandising, clubhouse food and beverage, financial management, golf instruction and special events.

Indirectly, the BCG connection to Ocean Pines is through company namesake Billy Casper who was the club’s Touring Pro when it opened in 1971.

BCG bested several golf-course management companies in the nationwide search by the Ocean Pines Association.
