Town renews MGH Contract For Two Years

OCEAN CITY- Resort officials this week voted to renew its contract with the town’s advertising agency, MGH, for another two years, the conclusion of which will complete a 10-year run for the successful partnership.

The Ocean City Mayor and Council this week voted unanimously to renew the town’s contract with MGH after a recommendation from the Tourism Committee. Ocean City’s Tourism Department then completed the agreement, believed to be worth around $300,000, under which MGH will continue to provide the town with advertising, media buying, public relations, social media, and interactive services for the resort through 2010.

Last year, MGH was once again selected as the town’s advertising agency of record after a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process that included nine other agencies from around the region. In the end, however, it was the success of MGH’s multi-pronged advertising and promotional campaigns for Ocean City over the years that led resort officials to renew the contract.

“MGH has consistently delivered campaigns and out-of-the-box ideas that not only get people around the East Coast talking about Ocean City, but get them to visit our town,” said Mayor Rick Meehan this week. “The unanimous council vote is a testament to the solid results MGH’s advertising, social media, public relations and interactive campaigns produce, and we are excited to continue our longstanding relationship.”

The contract renewal comes on the heels of another successful season for Ocean City in difficult economic times, particularly when compared to other tourist destinations in the region. This past summer, MGH built on its successful “Rodney” campaign, featuring a spokesman for the resort acting as a lifeguard. This year, “Rodney” expanded on his efforts to “rescue” people all over the East Coast from boredom by encouraging them to visit Ocean City during the summer. In addition, MGH this year helped Ocean City develop its I-phone and Android apps, and assisted in helping the resort surpass 100,000 fans on its Facebook page, the most of any East Coast beach destination.

Naturally, MGH officials were pleased with the contract renewal and the opportunity to continue to promote Ocean City.

“At MGH, we take great pride in creating integrated campaigns that produce solid results for our clients as well as cultivating lasting relationships,” said MGH president Andy Malis. “We are honored that our contract has been renewed unanimously by the Ocean City Council and that our campaigns have contributed to another successful summer season.”
