OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s fall flag football league action continued this week with three teams sitting atop the standings with perfect 2-0 records. The following is a quick look at some of this week’s games:

(bullet) Schell Brothers/Greene Turtle 33-Kirby’s Pub 7: Schell Brothers/Greene Turtle improved to 2-0 with a rout of Kirby’s. Ray Taranto hit Scott Dailey on a one-yard TD strike to get Schell Brothers on the board with a 7-0 lead and made it 13-0 on a one-yard touchdown run of his own. Kirby’s Bart Talbert cut the lead to 13-7 with a 50-yard scoring strike to Anthony Arellano, but Taranto connected on a two-yard TD pass to Ron Strickler to extend the lead to 21-7.

Schell Brothers made it 27-7 on a 42-yard touchdown pass from Taranto to Dailey, and tacked on a final score on a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown to make it 33-7, which is how the game ended.

(bullet) Seacrets 13- Blue Ox 0: Seacrets also improved to 2-0 with a shutout win over Blue Ox. Ryan Gartland threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Mike Kelley and connected on a 35-yard scoring strike to Jay Manval for the game’s only scores. (bullet) Buxy’s Salty Dog 35- The Buoys 12: The Buoys got on the board first as Steve Fowler connected on a 10-yard TD pass to Aaron Steely. However, Buxy’s came right back with an 18-yard touchdown pass from D.J. Draus to Greg Lasinski to take a 7-6 lead. Draus then hit Adam Blaney on a 50-yard bomb to extend the lead to 14-6. Draus added touchdown passes of 10 yards to Blaney and 15 yards to Justin Howarth to extend the lead to 27-6. The Buoys cut the lead to 27-12 when Fowler connected on a 40-yard touchdown pass to Jessie Crow. However, Draus hit Evan Dittler on a 50-yard touchdown pass to extend Buxy’s lead to 35-12, which turned out to be the final score. Buxy’s also owns a share of first place with a 2-0 record.

(bullet) Alumni 28- The Buoys 8: It was all Alumni early as Chip Purnell started the game with an interception. Eric Mitchell then connected on a 45-yard touchdown pass to Purnell to make it 7-0 early. Mitchell hit Demetrius Sturgis on a 10-yard pass to make it 14-0, before the Buoys’ Steve Fowler threw a 10-yard TD pass of his own to Aaron Steely to cut the lead to 14-8. That was as close as the Buoys would get, however, as Mitchell connected again on a 35-yard TD pass to Purnell and a 50-yard TD pass to Maurice Mitchell.
