Leading Sales Associate Named
OCEAN CITY – Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Greater Baltimore announced that Daniel Clayland, an associate broker with the company’s Ocean City/104th Street office, was recognized as a leading sales associate nationally.
Clayland was among NRT’s top 1,000 sales associates in the first and second quarters of 2010. NRT is the parent company of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
To put this achievement in perspective, the top 1,000 NRT sales associates represent the top 2 percent of performers among NRT’s 45,000 sales associates across the country.
“Daniel is a valuable member of the Coldwell Banker family who is an expert in marketing homes,” said Dean Cottrill, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Greater Baltimore. “To achieve this recognition is a true testament of his dedication to his customers and clients, his professionalism and his hard work. Clayland is an 18-year real estate veteran.
County Finance Work Honored
SNOW HILL – Worcester County Government (WCG) was recently honored with an award and a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the second consecutive year by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada.
The GFOA recognizes contributions to the practice of government finance that exemplify outstanding financial management, and WCG was honored with this recent recognition for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition awarded to local governments in the area of accounting and financial reporting. The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
“During these ongoing turbulent economic times, the county endeavors to clearly communicate its financial condition,” said Finance Officer Harold Higgins. “Receiving this GFOA award for a second straight year is an indication that the County continues to communicate financial matters to maintain public accountability. This award recognizes that effort.”
Higgins, Budget Officer Kathy Whited, Assistant Finance Officer Phil Thompson and Controller Jennifer Savage accepted the certificate on behalf of the county.
New Board Member Named
SNOW HILL – Mary Baker, long-term client of the Worcester County Developmental Center (WCDC), recently attended her first WCDC board meeting. She has taken on a new role, as a board member of WCDC. At board meetings, she represents the interests of all WCDC clients in board matters. “I like it here a lot,” she said. “I’m happy that I was asked to do it.”
Executive Director June Walker said Baker was a natural choice as the first client board member in the long history of WCDC.
“Mary is a bright woman who has grown while attending WCDC. As one of our longest tenured clients, she understands personally how our work enhances the lives of disabled adults,” Walker said.
For Baker, WCDC has been a second home for 37 years. Over her many years with WCDC, Baker has received the educational, social, vocational and residential supports she needs to be successful. When she is not at the center, she lives in one of the residential homes staffed by WCDC.
By the end of 2010, the center plans to open its new 35,000-square-foot facility in Newark, a facility that will allow them to nearly double the number of disabled adults they serve. Construction of the new facility began in June of 2009 and is scheduled be completed in late December of 2010. The “Brighter Future” campaign is actively pursuing funding. To-date, some $4.8 million of the $7 million needed has been committed, leaving just $2,200,000 more to be raised.
Open House Planned
BERLIN – The Guerrieri Heart & Vascular Institute at Peninsula Regional Medical Center invites anyone interested in learning more about the health benefits of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation or adult fitness to join them for an open house on Thursday, Sept. 23.
The event will be held at the Peninsula Regional’s Berlin Maintenance Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Adult Fitness Program location in the Berlin Shopping Center at the intersection of Routes 50 and 346. From 1 until 3 p.m. those attending will learn more about the program and how it benefits recovering cardiac and pulmonary patients, have an opportunity to participate in a series of free health screenings including blood pressure and body fat testing and also enjoy refreshments and giveaways. There is no cost to attend and pre-registration is not required.
