Nancy E. Lathbury

BERLIN – Nancy E. Lathbury, 83, of Bishopville, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

She was born in Bishopville and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Viola (Quillen) Hammond.  

She is survived by a daughter, Jean A. LaCurts and her husband Walter of Bishopville; a son, Bruce W. Lathbury and his wife Janet of Berlin; two brothers, Harry Hammond and Thomas Hammond both of Bishopville; and three grandchildren, Diane LaCurts, Dale LaCurts and Madison Lathbury.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Lathbury, in 1999.

Services were held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bishopville Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 350, Bishopville, Md. 21813.

Constance Lee Mitchell

OCEAN PINES – Constance “Connie” Lee Mitchell, passed away at her home in Ocean Pines on Aug. 29, 2010.

She was born in Wilmington Del. to the late Anthony and Margaret Maio.

She attended Goldey-Beacom Business College before working as a legal secretary. After having her children and they became school age, she then went to work for Montgomery County Public School System in records and reports. She and her husband have been Ocean Pines residents for over 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Mitchell; daughters Cynthia Rause, Lisa Mitchell and her husband Dan; daughter, Judi Dougherty and her husband Charlie; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center 1275 York Ave. New York, N.Y. 10065.

Dale McRoberts

SNOW HILL – Dale McRoberts, 57, died at Atlantic General Hospital on Aug. 27, 2010. He was born in Salisbury to the late Paul and Wanda McRoberts.

He worked for the Worcester County Maintenance Department. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his son, Paul McRoberts; daughter, Heather McRoberts; son-in-law, Shawn Cropper; granddaughter Camille; and brother Phil McRoberts and family.

Jackie E. Mowbray

BERLIN – Jackie E. Mowbray, 60, of Frankford, died, Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center of Lewes, Del.

Born in Milford, Del., he was the son of the late Norman and Florence (Frampton) Mowbray.
He was a bus driver and a supervisor for the Ocean City Transportation Department.

He is survived by his wife, Georgeanna (Townsend) Mowbray; one daughter, Tina Dennis of Georgetown; two sons, Edward "Skeet" Mowbray and Kevin Mowbray both of Frankford; one sister, Marsha Ewing of Seaford; and three grandchildren.

David W. Ardis

SNOW HILL – David W. Ardis, 48, of Snow Hill died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, due to complications from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born May 25, 1962, in Salisbury, a son of Kathleen McRoberts Ardis of Snow Hill and the late Albert N. Ardis.

David graduated from Worcester Country School with the Class of 1980 before earning his degree in business administration at Bridgewater College in Virginia. After college, he began his career in the poultry industry with Perdue, where he held several positions in processing, broiler and breeder production and hatchery management and was promoted to director of primary breeders in April 2006. He loved his work at Perdue and will be missed greatly by his Perdue family.

He was an avid golfer and fisherman. David also loved to travel and had fond memories of his trip to Europe with his daughters.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Katherine Paige Ardis and Abby Elizabeth Ardis, both of Snow Hill; a sister, Phyllis A. Lank and her husband, Gale, of Snow Hill; two brothers, Albert "Bert" N. Ardis Jr. of Charleston, S.C., and Steven J. Ardis of Snow Hill; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Reinhart and Jeffrey David Ardis, both of Seattle, Rachel Elizabeth Ardis of Hartford, Conn., and Gwynn Bonnaville of Hudson, N.C.; and a great-niece, Tara Bonnaville of Snow Hill. He will also be missed by his beloved cocker spaniel, "Buddy."
