Caitlin Stephens Laird 

BERLIN – Caitlin Stephens Laird, 25, died March 6, 2010 at Atlantic General Hospital.

Born in Salisbury, she is the daughter of Bain W. Laird and Amy Hall Laird. She is survived by her brother, Nathan B. Laird and his wife Tamara. She is also survived by the Hall family of Ocean City, the Anthenelli family of Salisbury, the Clipp family of Catonsville, the Harrison family of Ocean City, the Laird family of Harper’s Ferry W.Va, the Jaeger family of Ocean City, and the Shade family of Catonsville. She loved writing poetry and traveling.

A private service will be held this weekend. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a donation may made in her memory to the Worcester County Humane Society, PO Box 48 Berlin, Md. 21811.

Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Roy Douglas Crews

SNOW HILL – Roy Douglas “Doug” Crews, 65, of Snow Hill, passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Pennisula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born Feb. 2, 1945 in Rhode Island, he was the son of Roy Emmet and Sophia Foster Crews. He will be missed by his surviving and loving wife, Margi; daughter Laura; son Chris; and sister Kathy. His nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, future daughter-in-law along with his four dogs, cat and parrot will also miss him dearly.

While attending Penn State University, he was drafted and served his country as an MP in the Army. After an honorable discharge, he returned to pursue his passion for the restaurant business holding management positions in several well-known establishments including general manager of the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa. and at Green Hill Yacht and Country Club in Salisbury. He also owned his own upscale restaurant, “The Hungry Drummer”, in Hershey, and “Sub-Above” in Ocean City.

His other passions included golfing, fishing, crabbing, picture framing and cooking. He also took great pride in recently helping his long-time KDR fraternity brothers restore the house at Penn State for future members.

Always the giver, he donated his body to Anatomy Gifts Registry for scientific research. Friends are asked to come and celebrate his life at a casual memorial on Saturday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at the Nassawango Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Wicomico County (c/o Doug Crews), 5130 Citation Dr., Salisbury, Md. 21804.

Rheba C. Adams

BERLIN – Rheba C. Adams, age 85, died at Atlantic General Hospital on March 5, 2010.

Born in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Stamey Carter and Helen Whitted Carter. She is survived by her daughters, Alicia A. Reebel and husband Dan, Jennifer E. Scott, Roxanne V. Shoemaker and husband Bob, and Kelly Hall and husband Mike. She is also survived by a brother, Bill Carter and wife Mary, and a sister, Wanda Arrington. She was beloved grandmother to four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She leaves behind several nieces, nephews and friends.

Adams owned the Ice Cream Circus in Montego Bay Shopping Center. She also was a seamstress. She loved baking cakes for her many friends and family.

Services were held and arrangements by Burbage Funeral Home.

Wilton Randolph May

OCEAN CITY – Wilton Randolph May, 78, died on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Wilton R. May, Sr. and Christine Cropper May Raleigh. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. May.

May had worked as a sales executive for over 20 years with Publicker Industries. He was a member of Holy Savior Catholic Church in Ocean City, the Noise Control Board, Coast Guard Auxiliary, American Legion, Neighborhood Watch and the Election Board of Worcester County.

Along with his wife he is survived by two daughters, Christine L. LaPratt and her husband William and Corinne L. Habel and her husband Simon; nine grandchildren, William, Sarah, India, Tripp, and Chance LaPratt, Sage, Sophie, Lily and Finn Habel; sister-in-law, Florence H. May; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, David B. May.

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Friday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea. Rev. Greco will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21801.

Dennis J. O’Connor, Jr.

OCEAN CITY – Dennis J. O’Connor, Jr., age 78, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his home.

Born in Baltimore he was the son of the late Dennis J. O’Connor, Sr. and Mary O’Connor. He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne Helen Zipp O’Connor in 2006.

O’Connor had worked as a truck driver for many years with Branch Trucking and Bramble. He also had worked for the Town of Ocean City as a Boardwalk train driver and then with Super Fresh in North Ocean City. He was a member of the Teamsters Union in Baltimore, was a member of the 10th Ward Irish American Club in Baltimore, the Elks, Moose Lodge and the Sinepuxent American Legion Post #166 in Ocean City. He was also a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City.

He is survived by his three sisters-in-law, Marlyn Chaffman of Ellicott City, Sandra Sidlowski of Severna Park and Barbara Hamilton of Pasadena, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday, March 13 at 10:30 am at St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City. Rev. Richard Smith will officiate. Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Interment will be at the Eastern Shore Veteran Cemetery in Hurlock on Friday, March 19 at 11 a.m.

Carlton M. Jarmon

BERLIN – Carlton M. Jarmon, age 78 of Selbyville, Del. passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del.

He had been a life long truck driver with many friends in the industry. He always had a great sense of humor. He always kept an immaculate car.

He was born in Williamsville, Del. to the late Fred and Ida Whaley Jarmon.

His survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lillian Allen Jarmon; son, Steve Edward Jarmon and wife Rosalyn of Salisbury; and daughters, Jeanette McMillon and husband Robert of Frankford, Del., Michelle Harvey; and husband Kenny of Tallahassee, Fla., and Brenda Lee Jarmon of Tallahassee, Fla. He is also survived by a brother Pearlis Jarmon of Millsboro, Del.; a sister, Charlotte Mitchell of Wilmington, Del.; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 15 at 1 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Berlin.
