Decatur Swimmers Sweep Indian River

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity swim teams swept Indian River in the last meet before the holiday break last week with the girls beating the Indians 132-32 and the boys holding up their end with a 94-53 win.

With the win over Indian River, the Seahawk girls remained unbeaten on the season heading into the holidays. Taylor Blazer won two events including the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke, while Brianna Carroll also won two events including the 200-meter individual medley and the 100-meter freestyle. Ali McLoota won the 200-meter free, Catelin Geiser won the 100-meter butterfly and Katie Hudson won the 500-meter free.

On the boys’ side, the Seahawks prevailed 94-53. Jake Blazer won two events including the 200-meter and 100-meter freestyle. Brandon Flakowitz won the 100-meter butterfly, Josh Wilder took the 500-meter freestyle, Bobby Layton won the 100-meter backstroke and Garrett Neville won the 100-meter breaststroke. The meet against Indian River was the last before the holiday break for both teams. The Seahawks return to action on January 12 against Cape Henlopen.
