OCEAN CITY- Ocean City Recreation and Parks Fall Flag Football League continued last week with Eastern Shore Golf Magazine still unbeaten atop the standings at 7-0.
Buxy’s Salty Dog is a close second with a record of 6-2, followed by a bunch of teams at 3-4 on the season thus far including Pickle’s Pub, Kirby’s Pub and the Blue Ox. The following is a quick look at some of this week’s games.
Kirby’s 14- Pickles 9- Kirby’s got on the board first on a 10-yard TD run by Bart Talbert to go up 7-0. After Pickle’s got on the board on a safety to make it 7-2, Talbert connected again, this time on a seven-yard pass to Barry Snowden to make it 14-2 in favor of Kirby’s. Pickle’s made it close when Antoine Purnell hit Steve Monroe on a three-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-9, but that was as close as it would get.
Eastern Shore Golf Magazine 27- Tequila Duffybird 20: In a see-saw battle during which both teams exchanged touchdowns, ESGM came out on top by virtue of having the ball last. ESGM scored on TD passes from Ray Taranto to Scott Dailey, Joey Pino, Kyle Swayngim and Ron Strickler. Tequila Duffybird answered with three touchdown passes from Chase George to David Deneau and two to Ricky Hughes.
Buxy’s Salty Dog 32- FOP Lodge 10 13: Buxy’s D.J. Draus connected on four touchdown passes including three to Pat Spicer and one to Billy Lancaster and also rushed 50 yards for another score to lead the Salty Dog to victory. For the FOP, Mike Richardson connected on a 17-yard TD pass to Todd Spiegle and Dennis Eade run for a touchdown.
