Local Man Killed In Scooter Accident

BERLIN – A local man died from injuries sustained in an accident late last Thursday night when his scooter left the roadway on Route 589.

Shortly before midnight last Thursday, Maryland State Police responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a motor scooter on Route 589 north of Adkins Spur.

The investigation revealed a 2007 VIP Future Champion scooter operated by Frank Albert Snyder, 53, of Ocean Pines, was traveling northbound on Route 589 when it left the east side of the roadway and overturned in a roadside field.

Snyder was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and received life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Atlantic General Hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. Route 589 remained closed for about an hour while the investigation was conducted. The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and the Ocean Pines Fire Department provided assistance at the scene.
