Wallace Hudson IV

SNOW HILL – Wallace Hudson, IV, age 37, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Daniel Wallace Hudson, III and Debbi Rogers Hudson of Snow Hill.

He was a graduate of Snow Hill High School Class of 1990. He had worked as a Correctional Officer at the Eastern Shore Correctional Institution in Westover, Md., where he was a range instructor. He also worked as a MAC Tool Truck driver and was self employed.

He is survived by his wife, Kris R. Hudson; two sons, Daniel Wallace Hudson, V and Trevor David Hudson both of Snow Hill; two step-daughters, Koran Kendig and Tracey Kendig of Salisbury; one sister, Kiley Lowman and her husband Mike of Snow Hill; two nephews, Wyatt and Garet Lowman; a special aunt, Robin Justice; and several other aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Daniel W. Hudson, Jr. and Elizabeth Quillen and by his maternal grandparents, Russell and Doris Rogers.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Snow Hill. Interment will follow in Whatcoat Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daniel W. Hudson, V and Trevor David Hudson Scholarship Fund, c/o Calvin B. Taylor Bank, 108 W. Market St., Snow Hill, Md. 21863.

Lucy Ryan Gaffney

OCEAN CITY – Lucy Ryan Gaffney, age 85, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born Oct. 6, 1923 in Waterbury, Conn., she was the daughter of the late George and Lucy Freney Ryan.

 Gaffney graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Conn. State Teachers College and a Masters of Arts Degree from the University of  Maryland at College Park. She was employed by the Montgomery County, Md. Department of Education as a teacher for 20 years before retiring to Ocean City in 1981 where she served as Secretary of the Caine Woods Community Association, member of the Ocean City Beautification Committee and Board of  Elections Supervisor. She was awarded the Key to the City by the Mayor and Council upon her retirement in 2001, at which time she moved to Juniper, Fla.

She was a lifetime member of the Catholic church.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James J. Gaffney; a son, Pete Gaffney of Annapolis; two daughters, Jane Snedaker-Rahm of Hobe Sound, Fla. and Patricia Gaffney of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; two sisters, Jane Jensen of  Plano, Texas and Mary Werzinger of Waterbury, Conn; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Gaffney.

Services were held. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Georgetta W. Pepper

SELBYVILLE – Georgetta W. Pepper, 92, of Selbyville, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Salisbury Center: Genesis ElderCare.

She was born in Bishopville, the daughter of the late George and Ethel Shockley Walker. She had been a homemaker. She was a member of Sound United Methodist Church in Williamsville, Del., and attended Blackwater Fellowship Church in Roxana, Del.

She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Lee Jones and her husband, Ralph, of Bishopville, Carletta S. Lankford and her husband, Terry, of Mardela Springs; three grandchildren, Jeff Jones, Adam Lankford and Andrew Lankford; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Lankford and Marlie Lankford; and one cousin, Marie Swain of Georgetown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Pepper, in 2003 and her grandson, Stacey Jones, in 1985.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Roxana Cemetery.

Regina D. Wallace

OCEAN PINES – Regina D. Wallace of Ocean Pines died Friday, June 26, 2009.

She was the beloved wife of the late Melvin Wallace; devoted mother of David F. Wallace and his wife, Patricia A., of Bel Air, Md., and Melvin F "Fred" Wallace and his wife, Sandra Ann, of Berlin; and adored grandmother of David J. Wallace, Adam F. Wallace, Ethan G. Wallace, Connor A. Wallace, Amanda Claire Wallace and Merediyh Hope Wallace.

Wallace was preceded in death by her sister, Christina Odell.

Services were held. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to AGH Chaplaincy Fund, Atlantic General Hospital, 9733 Healthway Drive, Berlin, Md. 21811.

Margaret E. Cash

SNOW HILL – Margaret "Peggy" E. Cash, 81, of Snow Hill, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

She was born in Snow Hill on April 8, 1928, a daughter of the late Edward and Lola Oxenford Adkins.

She worked for the Worcester County Board of Education in the food service department, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill, where she taught Sunday school. She will be remembered for her wonderful poetry and stories she shared. She had a great sense of humor and was always ready to share a joke, which would brighten your day.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John "Gregg" Cash; two sons, John Edward "Buddy" Cash and his wife, Lisa, of Woodlyn, Pa., and Terry Lee Cash and his wife, Sherry, of Davidsonville, Md.; five grandchildren, Shane Cash, Shannon Cash, Gregor Cash, Troy Cash and Christian Cash; and several cousins.

Services were held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Peggy’s memory to the Spence Baptist Church Building Fund, 7603 Spence Church Road, Snow Hill, Md. 21863.
