Mary Louise O’Brien

SALISBURY — Mary Louise O’Brien, 78, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

She was daughter to the late Pearl and Elisha Magaw. She was known for her sense of humor. She loved to play cards and to go to the Boardwalk to people watch and get some French fries. She also loved animals and rescued cats. She was a successful businesswoman and single mother. She leaves behind many loved friends.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tina O’Brien, and grandson, Sean, of Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Carolyn O’Brien and grandchildren, Ethan and Kate of Georgia; daughter, Melissa Hendrix, and grandchildren, Brennan, Benjamin and Lauren of Florida; nephew, Joseph Hanby and his wife, Kathleen, and their children, Colleen, Joseph, David, Linda and Karen; niece, Janet Hanby Johnson and her children Jane, Jimmy (deceased May 6, 2007) and Joe; niece Judith, her husband Robert Patton, and children Heather and Bradley; and niece, Carol Casey and her daughter, Jennifer. She was preceded in death by sisters Ruth Magaw Hanby and Violet Magaw Spicher.

In Lieu of flowers, donations are accepted by The Susan G. Komen Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, Texas 75244.

Frederick Michael Loeloff

OCEAN PINES – Frederick Michael Loeloff, 73, died peacefully May 21, 2009.
He was born Nov. 10, 1935 to the late Frederick A. Loeloff and Estelle Paterek Loeloff.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Crescenti Loeloff; son, Frederick and wife, Cynthia; son, Michael and wife, Catherine; son, Richard and wife, Tiffani; and six grandchildren. 

A funeral service was held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines.

In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted by the American Lung Association, 209 East Market Street, Salisbury, Md. 21801.

Arrangements are being handled by Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Edward Preston Burton, Sr.

BERLIN – Edward Preston Burton Sr., age 89, of Berlin, died on May 21, 2009 at Berlin Nursing Home in Berlin.

He will be joining his late wife Edith Belle Burton to rest in peace.

He served in the United States Navy before attending Polly Tech Institute in Baltimore to study to become a mechanical engineer. He began his career at Hussman Refrigeration Company. He later established Ed’s Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Inc. in Edgewood, He continued to work in the refrigeration business until he retired. Once retired, he moved to Berlin and was active in the American Legion Post 123, Moose Lodge of Berlin, Masonic Lodge #116 in Towson and men’s bible study at Stevenson United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling with friends and family, camping, playing golf and the great outdoors. Bird and squirrel watching was a great past time for him.

He is survived by his daughter, Edith “Edie” Scott of Berlin; sons, Edward P. Burton Jr., and wife Janet, of Dandridge, Tenn., Barry Burton, and wife Susan, of Joppa, Michael Burton, and wife Annie, of Millsboro, Del. and Frank Burton, and wife Donna, of Port Deposit; grandchildren, Candace and Charlene Race, Carla Nock, and husband Nathan, Shawn Pollard, and wife Erin, Doug Pollard, Jason and Brian Burton and Jennifer Alexander; great grandchildren, Ethan and Tucker Nock, Alexa Ellis, Brooke Alexander and Cole Pollard; and longtime friend Carl Lucas.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, William Ray and John Collins Burton; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Burton; and grandson, Michael Burton.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post #123 in Berlin.

Josephine E. Fitzpatrick

SALISBURY – Josephine E. Fitzpatrick, age 75, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Cheyenne, Wyo., she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Narita Monhollan. She is survived by her husband, Roland Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick had been a homemaker and was a member of the Berlin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Boggs-Disharoon American Legion Post #123 Ladies Auxiliary in Berlin and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #8296 in Ocean City.

Along with her husband, she is survived by two sons, Joseph Woronicki and his wife Shirley of Salisbury and Michael Woronicki of Ocean City; a daughter, Susan Martin and her husband David of Baltimore; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Anne Vermeulen of San Antonio, TX; one niece; and one nephew.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Rev. Harry Weir will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Claire Michelotti

OCEAN PINES – Claire Michelotti, 84, of Ocean Pines, passed away at home surrounded by her family Tuesday May 26, 2009.

She was born in Greenwich, Conn. and spent most of her life in the Greenwich/Port Chester area. She retired to Spring Hill, Fla. with her husband Louis who predeceased her in 1998.

She is survived by her sisters, Anne Vernon and Theresa Strazza of Greenwich, Conn.; daughter, Lynne Swift and her husband Tim Swift of Ocean Pines; her sons, John Michelotti and wife Ann Carroll of Greenwich, Conn., and William and wife Debbie of Stamford, Conn.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Walt Rampata, Brett Rampata, Jaimie Rampata, Kate Michelotti, John Carroll Michelotti, Willy Michelotti, Cassie Michelotti and Jessie Michelotti. In addition, she is survived by six great grandchildren, Collin Rampata, Allison Rampata, Gracie Cooker, Riley Glaser, Evangeline Rampata and Hazel Rampata.

A memorial mass will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America or your local hospice. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

J. Robert Grady

OCEAN PINES – J. Robert Grady, age 84, of Ocean Pines, formerly of Bergen County, N.J., died on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin after a brief illness.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was passionate about his family and golf.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Reilly Grady; one son, Bruce and wife Alyce; and six daughters, Kathleen and husband Joel, Gail, Michele and husband Chi, Melissa and husband Robby, Leigh and husband Kevin, Tara and husband Danny. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

His body was donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board for medical research. A celebration of his life will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11211 Beauchamp Road, Berlin, on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at 9 a.m. with a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m.
