E. Robert Stevens

FENWICK ISLAND, Del. – E. Robert Stevens “Bob”, 62, of Fenwick Island, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital at Berlin.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Doris Curlee Stevens of Towson and the late Emory Stevens.

He was the Assistant Superintendent of the Water Department for the Town of Ocean City.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Stevens.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary “Web” Stevens of Fenwick Island; a son, Bryan Stevens of Manteo, N.C.; and a daughter, Sarah J. Nobles and her husband Greg of Chicago, Ill. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Libby, and one nephew, Ross Stevens, and two nieces, Rachel and Gretchen Stevens.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. As his last act of giving to others, he donated his eyes for transplant, his skin for diabetic damage repair and his bones to cancer and spinal injury victims.

Services were held.

James R. Weismiller Jr

OCEAN CITY – James R. Weismiller Jr, 50, of Ocean City, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at George Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Born in Washington, D.C, he was the son of James Ronald Weismiller Sr. and Sara Weismiller.

His survivors include his wife, Stephanie Weismiller; children, Jessica Weismiller and her fiancée, Rick, James Weismiller III and Justin Weismiller all of Ocean City; brother, Dr. David Weismiller of Greenville, N.C.; sister, Sally Anne Messick and her husband, Troy of Ocean City; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Ocean City.

Mac Banks Jenkins

BERLIN – Mac Banks Jenkins, 87, of Berlin and originally of Siloam, died suddenly on May 5, 2009 at Gull Creek Residential Facility.

He was the son of the late S. Parker Jenkins, Jr. and Genoa Banks Jenkins.

Jenkins was past master of the Wicomico Lodge No. 91 which he joined in 1960. A 32nd degree mason, he was the longest serving board member serving on the board of trustees from 1973 until the present.

He graduated from Wicomico High School in 1938. He was in the grocery business in Siloam until 1955, when he founded the Madison Beach Motel in Ocean City, which he operated with his wife, Irene, until he retired in the late 1970’s.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Irene Hastings Jenkins, originally of Delmar. He is also survived by his oldest son, Mac Dean Jenkins and his wife, Joan H. Jenkins, of Ocean City; youngest son, Ted Alan Jenkins and his wife, Patricia T. Jenkins, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandsons, Randy Jenkins and his wife, Camille, and Eric Jenkins and his wife, Shannon; great-grandchildren, Vance, Maya, Ian and Layla; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edwina Jenkins Kauffman.

June Elizabeth Saunders

OCEAN CITY – June Elizabeth Saunders, 80, died Friday May 8, 2009 at her home in Ocean City.

She was born Jan. 26, 1929 to the late Clarence and Olive Postle.

She is survived by her sons Jerry, Robert and David Saunders; a daughter, Sheri Saunders; her brothers, Robert and George Postle; her sisters, Ruth Cooper and Martha Stickland; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by sons John and Charles Saunders.

Kevin Terry Lynch

SELBYVILLE, Del. – Kevin Terry Lynch, 52, of Selbyville, Del., passed away April 29, 2009 at his brother’s residence in Bridgeville, Del. with his family at his side.

He was born August 21, 1956 in Salisbury, the son of Catherine L. (Daye) Lynch and the late William Lynch.

Lynch retired after 30 years from the Waste Water Treatment Plant of cean City, where he was employed as an assistant superintendent. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed boating, crabbing, and fishing. His greatest love was spending time on the beach with family and friends and skiing in the winter. He was involved with various sporting activities, coached soccer with the River Soccer Club and was involved in soccer and basketball through the Ocean City Recreation Department. He always supported his

children in all their endeavors.

In addition to his mother, Catherine L. (Daye) Lynch of Lewes, he is survived by his wife, Debbie (Skibbe) Lynch of Selbyville; three sons, Zackary Lynch of North Carolina and Clarke and Dylan Lynch, both of Selbyville, Del.; two brothers, David Lynch of Lewes and Brian Lynch and

his wife Michelle of Bridgeville, Del.; and one sister, Cate Lynch of Brooklyn, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. at St. Matthew’s By The Sea, 1000 Coastal Highway, Fenwick Island, Del.

George Thomas Strohm, Jr.

OCEAN PINES – George "Jack" Thomas Strohm, Jr., 83, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late George Thomas Strohm, Sr. and Dorothy Dover Strohm.

Strohm had been a Quality Control Engineer in Aerospace with Glen L. Martin Company in Baltimore for 12 years and also with RCA and Goodyear Aerospace. He was a member of the Sinepuxent American Legion Post #166, a WWII Navy Veteran having sailed on the USS Canberra, USS Alabama and the USS

Salem.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn Jones Strohm; a son, Glenn L. Strohm and his wife Susan of Baltimore; a daughter, Diana Marie Blanchard and her husband Albert of Fairfax, Va.; and two grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Blanchard of Fairfax, Va.

Betty Jean Kelly

SALISBURY – Betty Jean Kelly, age 81, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Genesis Elder Care in Salisbury.

Born in Willards she was the daughter of the late Willard Dennis and Amelia Mitchell Dennis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Milton Kelly.

Kelly had worked as an audit manager with Sears. She had been a member of Powellville United Methodist Church and was an avid Bridge enthusiast.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna K. Martin of Gambrills, Md. and Lori Kelly Vetock of Ocean Pines; one grandson, Luke Kelly Vetock; two sisters, Margaret McCabe of Showell and Lois Vickers of Salisbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Esther Mae LaPole
BERLIN – Esther Mae LaPole nee Foreman, 80, died May 12, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital.
She was born May 28, 1928 in Baltimore.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Arthur Dorsey LaPole; daughter and son-in-law JoAnn and Herb Butler of Lusby, Md.; son Arthur Dorsey LaPole Jr. of Baltimore; son Mark Glen LaPole of Boulder, Colo.; her grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She served 28 years in the Baltimore School System and retired in Berlin in 1990.
A memorial service will be planned in the near future.

Myrtle May Mason

SNOW HILL – Myrtle May Mason, 80, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Burt and Marie Cummins. She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Mason, in 1993.

Mason had been a homemaker and beloved mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Cindy Wells and her husband Paul of

Ellicott City, Debbie Foxwell and her husband John of Stockton and Linda Jacobson; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; a brother, Ernest Cummins of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Douglas James Ward Jr.

BERLIN – Douglas "DJ" James Ward Jr., 48, died May 10, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital.

He was born in Washington D.C. Jan. 28, 1961 to Douglas Ward Sr. and Joan L Riley Ward.

He is survived by his soul mate, Susan Karson; father Douglas Ward Sr.; sister Cathy Johnson and spouse Curtis; nephews Curtis Jr. and Randy

Johnson; sister Wendy Geist and spouse William, and many other close family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan L. Ward.

His life journey was short lived, but his memory will be carried on by those lives he touched. He will be remembered for his big heart, honesty and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
