Paul Bancroft Clifford

OCEAN CITY – Paul Bancroft Clifford, age 78, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at his home in Ocean City.

Born in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late Dr. Stewart H. Clifford and Ellinor Burnett Clifford.

He had been an insurance executive with Monumental Life Insurance Company in Baltimore, which his late grandfather had founded. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School. He was a Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict earned the rank of Lieutenant.

He is survived by his wife Carol Gildon Clifford; his children, Paul Burnett Clifford of Newfane, Vt., Valerie Clifford Pereira and her husband Stephen of Easton, Mass., Lynn Hamilton Clifford and her husband William Koch of Baltimore and Amory Clifford Woodman and her husband Mark of Easton, Mass.; two step-sons, Lee Garvin of Chantilly, Va. and Shea Garvin of Ocean City; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Cory and Brittany Pereira, Amory, Liam and Elliott Koch and Courtney Woodman; three brothers, Stewart B. Clifford of New York, N.Y., Frederick M. Clifford of Duxbury, Mass. and Donald J. Clifford of Chatham, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Young Audiences of Maryland, 927 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, Md. 21202.

Jeffrey Peter Marx

OCEAN PINES – Jeffrey Peter Marx, age 51, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at his home in Ocean Pines.

Born in California, he was the son of Mildred Haring Marx and the late Henry P. Marx.

Marx had been a manager at the Paul Revere Smorgasbord and the Caribbean Pool Bar and Grill in Ocean City.

Along with his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Jessica Dawn Marx, and his former wife, Dawn Michele Marx. He is also survived by a brother, Kurt M. Marx and his wife Jean; two sisters, Stephanie M. Jones and her husband Keith and Erika L. Marx and her fiancé Richard; one aunt; one uncle; cousins; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 3 p.m. at Atlantic United Methodist Church in Ocean City. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Interment will be in the Garden of the Pines in Ocean Pines.

Robert Alan Constant

BERLIN – Robert Alan Constant, age 45, died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Alexandria, Va., he was the son of Maurice Robert Constant and Joyce Vaughan Constant. He had been an HVAC Technician.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Mary Laroche of Berlin; a sister, JoEllen Constant of Salisbury; an aunt, Jeannette Burke and her husband Joseph of Hagerstown; two uncles, Orrin Vaughan and William Vaughan and his wife Marsha all of Salem, Ohio; cousins, Elizabeth Fancey of Sykesville, Michael Kocak of Hagerstown, Maria Crowder of Glen Allen, Va. and Charles and George Cornell of Girard, Ohio; and two nephews, Douglas Wallech, Jr. and Daniel Wallech of Hagerstown.

Mildred L. Parsons

BERLIN – Mildred L. Parsons, 98, of Berlin, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Atlantic Rehabilitation Center in Berlin. 

She was born in Taylorville, a daughter of the late John and Anne Quillen Elliott and was the last surviving sibling of nine children. 

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret P. Bunting and her husband, Glenn of Bishopville; six grandchildren, Ruth Timmons of Dagsboro, Teresa Norris and her husband John of Berlin, Jeffrey Phillips and his wife Sandy of Whaleyville, George “Randy” Phillips and his wife Betty of Selbyville, Glenn Bunting Jr. of Bishopville and Catherine Woodland and her husband Herb of Bishopville; nine great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a son-in-law George Phillips of Bishopville.

Frances Evelyn Meyer

OCEAN CITY – Frances Evelyn Meyer, 70, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William Bishop and Ella May Kerns Bishop. She is survived by her husband Ronald Meyer. She had been a Crisis Minister at the Ocean City Baptist Church.

Along with her husband, she is survived by three sons, Randy Meyer and his wife Joanna, Allen Meyer, and Michael Meyer and his wife Yvonne; two daughters, Lauren Creaghan and her husband Robert and Christina Locke and her husband Joseph; one brother, Ralph Bishop and his wife Shirley; six grandchildren, Blake Meyer, Nicholas Creaghan, Joseph Creaghan, Matthew Creaghan, Courtney Blumenthal; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Services were held. Arrangements by the Burbage Funeral Home.
