Barbara Lee Wainwright

WILLARDS – Barbara Lee Wainwright, 54, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore City.

Born July 14, 1954 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of Milton Floyd Lewis, Sr. and Annie Virginia Bowden. She was the wife of James Warren Wainwright. She is survived by her step-son, Robert Allen Wainwright; her daughter, Amie Leigh Derrickson and her husband, Ryan; her brothers, Floyd, Edward, Gerald, and Phillip; and her sister Agnes.

She lived in Willards most of her life and attended the Friendship United Methodist Church in Pittsville. She liked gardening, cooking and fishing. She had a great love for her children.

Evelyn Phyllis Davis

BERLIN – Evelyn Phyllis Davis, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the Berlin Nursing Home, with her husband at her side, on Jan. 15.

Born Aug. 3, 1926, in Rahway, N.J., she was predeceased by her mother, Josephine Stonier Costello, and her father, Elias Leedom Costello. In Dec. 1950, she married Robert B. Davis in Woodbridge, N.J. and together they had four children. Lisa Carolyn Davis, beloved daughter, passed in December 1958.

She was educated in the public schools of Woodbridge, N.J., attended Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. as a member of the Army Student Nurse Corp., graduating in 1947 as a registered nurse and again in 1949 with a bachelors degree in nursing education. During her professional career, Phyllis fulfilled her many goals in nursing including a position as a director of nursing and president of Atlantic General Hospital Auxiliary. Davis was an avid horsewoman, she enjoyed spending time with her husband on his boat and was an accomplished stained glass artist and designer. She will be remembered for her good humor and hearty laugh.

She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Davis. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Dec. 27, 2008. Also surviving are her three children, Susan Davis Nestor of Raleigh, N.C., Robert B. Davis, Jr. of Dover, N.J. and Zoe Ann Davis of Asheville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Lisa, Matthew, Jennifer and Ashley; a sister, Zoe Costello Milnes and her husband Don; and a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Davis Beck and her husband Elmer. She also leaves behind many other wonderful nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Services were held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Phyllis be made to the Atlantic General Hospital Foundation Fund, 9733 Healthway Dr., Berlin, Md 21811.

Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Douglas George Milne

SALISBURY – Douglas George Milne, age 66, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Hempstead, N.Y., he was the son of the late Eben Milne and Ellen Hewitt Milne.

 Milne had worked for many years as a probation officer in Nassau County, N.Y. He was a member of the Ocean Pines Golf Course and had been a volunteer with the Salvation Army working with underprivileged youth.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Perkins Milne; a step-son, Douglas A. Reiman and his wife Cynthia; a step-daughter, Lynne E. Jenson; a brother, Richard E. Milne; an aunt, Adeline Hewitt; and five grandchildren, Dustin, Matthew, Daniel, Allysa and Paul.

Services were held. Donations may be made to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21804.

Roselle Mary Wooten

PRINCESS ANNE – Roselle Mary Wooten, age 96, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at 62 at Manokin Manor Nursing Home in Princess Anne.

Born in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Sewell H. Bradford and Laura M. Jarvis. She was the wife of the late John Edward Wooten. She is survived by her son, John Bradford Wooten and his wife, Sylvia, of Fruitland; her daughter, Geraldine Ball of Salisbury; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and two nieces. Wooten had another daughter, Virginia Holland Shupe, who passed away in 1996.

Services were held. Donations may be made to Manokin Manor, 11974 Edgehill Terrace Rd., Princess Anne, Md. 21853. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Debra Y. Zirckel

OCEAN PINES – Debra "Debbi" Y. Zirckel, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009. She was the daughter of Earl Yingling and Lillian Bull.

Zirckel had been a teacher at the Frankford Elementary School in Frankford, Del.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Zirckel; a daughter, Brandi Zirckel;

a bother-in-law, Charles Zirckel; a sister, Beverly Pickett and her husband Dennis; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin where friends may call from 2-3 p.m. Interment will be private.

Frances Myers

OCEAN CITY – Frances Myers, 65, of Ocean City, died Jan. 18, 2009.

She was the daughter of the late John Trotto, and Angelina Trotto Frappolli, who survives her.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Elks.

She loved traveling, loved the beach, but most of all loved her family, and was a fantastic mother – gracious and giving and always thinking of others and always put her kids first.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, F. William Myers, who died in 1998, and Louise Carty and Helen Trotto.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her two sons, Greg Myers, and his wife Kim of Destin, Fla. and Joseph Quaranto, and his wife Michelle of Destin, Fla.; four daughters, Kim Smith, Dawn Warfield and Sherrell Lloyd and her husband Dale, all of Ocean City, and Danielle Quaranto, of Selbyville, Del; one brother, Warren Trotto and his wife Sharon, of Burlington, N.J.; one sister Mary Gessner, and her husband Max of Beverly, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Melissa, Teresa, Davey, Anthony, Anjel, Rose, Gabrielle, Kaley and Kendra; and four great grandchildren, Nazair, Sencere, Jaida, and Nicholas. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and beloved special friends and extended family. She will be greatly missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 at 4 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, Del. Friends may call from 2:30-4 p.m. Pastor Bob Hudson will be lead the service. Interment will be private.

Gregory Alan Morris

MILLSBORO, Del. – Gregory Alan Morris 42, of Millsboro, Del. passed away on Jan. 17, 2009 at home.

He worked in construction for over 15 years owning his own business. He was a perfectionist “wanting the job done right”. He was a loving father and a homebody, devoted to his family.

He was the son of Wayne A. and Peggy J. Lathbury Morris of Millsboro, Del. His wife, Sonia M. Bent Morris of 17 years, and one daughter Kristan S Morris survive him. A brother, Dean A. Morris and wife Grace of Georgetown, Del., and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends and extended family throughout Sussex County also survive him.
