BERLIN- Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team dropped another tough one this week, falling to visiting Wicomico, 67-44, on Tuesday to fall to 1-12 on the season.

The Seahawks have now dropped five straight since returning to action after the holidays, but they have shown signs of improvement. Right out of the break, Decatur got beat up pretty good by Delaware power Indian River, 69-39, and dropped the next four including the 23-point loss to the Indians on Tuesday. Decatur has improved offensively, averaging 44 points a game during the most recent five-game losing streak, but the defense continues to give up points in bunches with opponents averaging 67 points during the stretch.

There is reason for optimism, however, as the Seahawks prepare for the stretch run of the regular season. Decatur hits the road for a game tonight against Crisfield, before traveling to county rival and defending state champion Snow Hill next Tuesday.
