AGH Penguin Swim Benefit Marks 15th Year

OCEAN CITY – It’s almost time for the 15th Annual Penguin Swim, which will be held on New Years Day to benefit the Atlantic General Hospital Foundation.

In 2008, the Penguin Swim raised over $67,000 in support of the hospital’s mission: “To provide quality care, personalized service and education to improve individual and community health.”

The Penguin Swim is a fun, annual event to raise funds to support the non profit, community hospital. Each year, hundreds of "penguins" raise funds to help the hospital provide excellent quality care.

The hospital invites the community to the Princess Royale on 91st Street on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009 to celebrate the new year with a plunge in the Atlantic Ocean at 91st Street at 1 p.m. on New Years Day. Registration and incentive pick-up for the wim will begin at noon in the Princess Royale atrium.

Following the swim, an awards ceremony will be held in the Princess Royale atrium.

Everyone who raises a minimum of $25 will be eligible to win an incentive. This year’s incentives include the following: $25, beanie or coffee mug; $75, long sleeve silk screened T-shirt; $150, silk screened sweatshirt; $250, robe or two beach towels; and $500, one item from each level.

Teams and individuals also compete for awards. First, second and third place awards are given to the highest fundraising teams and individuals.
