BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team completed another great season last week, topping Delmarva Christian, 3-0, on Friday to win the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) tournament championship.
The Mallards beat Gunston, 4-1, in the ESIAC tournament semifinals last Friday to advance to Friday’s title game. In the Gunston game, Mike Mollichelli led the way with a hat trick, scoring three of his team’s goals. Matt Carey added a fourth goal in the Gunston game, while Fausto DiCarlo, Stephen Pappas and Parker McIntosh dished out assists.
The win over Gunston in the ESIAC semifinals propelled Worcester into the conference tournament title game, which has become familiar territory for the Mallards. In the title game against Delmarva Christian, Worcester left nothing to chance, getting plenty of production on the offensive end with a balanced attack that featured goals by Carey, Pappas and Evan Bauer. The Mallards finished with an impressive record of 13-1-1.
