OC Surf Shop Burglar Sought

OCEAN CITY – Resort police this week are looking for a suspect who burglarized a mid-town surf shop last weekend.

Around 4 a.m. last Sunday, OCPD officers responded to Chauncey’s Surf Shop on 53rd Street in reference to a burglar alarm activation. The officers arrived on the scene and immediately noticed the front plate glass window of the shop had been smashed. A brief investigation revealed several items had been stolen including skateboard decks, wheels and trucks. The suspect allegedly reached through the smashed window to steal the items.

During the investigation, the officers recovered surveillance video, which provided a working description of the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build and about six feet tall.

On the day before, the suspect was seen in the store wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and a green knit cap. The suspect returned later that evening, this time wearing a hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and “skater” type sneakers. When he returned the second time, the suspect was traveling in a dark-colored passenger car.
