Carl A. "Rudy" Rudbeck, Jr.

OCEAN CITY – On July 23, 2008, Carl A. "Rudy" Rudbeck, Jr. died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Ocean City. He was 89 years old.

He retired from the Metropolitan Police Department, Washington, DC in 1958 as a Homicide Sergeant, Badge Number 829. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Flynn, and son-in-law, Carey Flynn, of Ocean City; grandson, David Lloyd, and granddaughter-in-law, Kara Kerr Lloyd, of Stevensville, Md; and loving companion of many years, Hilma McFarland of Ocean City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rudbeck, and son, Carl A. "Bud" Rudbeck, III.

A viewing was held at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin and a second viewing was held at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, Md. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 1 pm at Lee Funeral Home. Interment followed at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, Md. Mary Tyler Pruitt

SALISBURY – Mary Taylor Pruitt, age 94, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Modestown, Va. she was the daughter of the late Jeff Taylor and Bettie Dix Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Odell Pruitt, Sr. in 1999.

Pruitt had been a homemaker and was a member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Snow Hill.

She is survived by her son, Lawrence Odell Pruitt, Jr. of Salisbury; her grandchildren Todd Pruitt of Charleston, S.C., Nathan Pruitt of Salisbury, Ashley Pruitt of Preston; and two great grandchildren, Shannon Pruitt and Robbie Pruitt of Charleston, S.C. She is also survived by her in-laws, Tad and Betty Pruitt of Snow Hill, Benny and Linda Ward of Salisbury, Pam McCabe of Snow Hill, Shirley Hunt of York, S.C. and Margaret Pruitt of Salisbury.

A graveside service was held at Whatcoat United Methodist Cemetery in Snow Hill.

Donations may be made to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802 or to Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 102 W. Federal St., Snow Hill, Md. 21863.

Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home.

Helen Barbara Fuller

BERLIN – Helen Barbara Fuller, age 85, died Saturday July 26, 2008 at her home in Berlin.

Born in Lackawana, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph John Raiman and Julia Dziedzina Raiman.

Fuller is survived by two sons, Daryl R. Fuller and wife Leslie of Berlin and Donald Joseph Fuller and wife Mary of Chesapeake, Va; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Raiman of Panhandle, Fla; seven grandchildren, Karmen, Chris, Kirk, Derek, Michelle, Holly and Samantha; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Lori White, Helen’s caregiver and Kathy Haislip and all the people of Coastal Hospice for their care.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Aug. 2, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Coastal Hospice P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21801.

Elise F. Schmidt

VOORHEES, N.J. – Elise F. Schmidt (nee Schlissler) died on July 24, 2008.

She had resided in Voorhees, N.J. Cherry Hill, N.J., Ocean City, Towson and her birthplace Baltimore.

She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Schmidt; loving mother of Nancy Lee Schmidt, Deborah Ann Schmidt, Neal B. Schmidt, all of Voorhees, N.J. and David Schmidt and his wife Holly of La Crosse, Wis; caring grandmother of Natalie Nicole Schmidt of Voorhees, N.J. and Erik Hesselman of La Crosse, Wis: and dear sister of Jane Davis Schnepfe. Schmidt will also be missed by her seven nieces and nephews and 15 grand nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

William A. Carbo

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – William R. Carbo, Jr. 83 of Ocean City, passed away July 24, 2008.

He was the son of the late William R. Carbo Sr. and Hilda Carbo. A native of Baltimore, he was a retired auto mechanic

He was the founder and president of Colts Corral #23, a member of the VFW and was in charge of Park Place condominiums.

He is survived by five sons, William R. Carbo III of Washington, DC, Michael A. Carbo and wife Vivian of Greensboro, Md., Joseph D. Carbo, Washington, D.C., James E. Carbo, of Stevensonville, Md. and Robert A. Carbo and wife Sharon, of Va. Beach, Va., and several step-children. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Patricia Lynn Bair

OCEAN PINES – Patricia Lynn Bair, age 51, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at her home in Ocean Pines.

Born in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of Francis Kirk and Margaret "Peggy" Grinath. Along with her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Jessica M. Bair of Newark, Md.; step-father, Jack W. Grinath of Pocomoke; sister, Annette J. Kirk Delp of Churchville, Pa.; and two nephews, Chas and Frankie.

Cremation followed her death. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
