Tuesday, June 17 – OC To Begin Beach Repair Work

OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Public Works crews will being repair work this evening on areas of the beach impacted by a May storm. The storm created tidal ditches that run north/south parallel to the ocean. These ditches have created a situation in which the town’s normal beach cleaning procedure is not feasible and therefore needs to be corrected.

Public Works crews will be working in the following areas: 67th Street, 72nd Street, 74th Street, 75th Street, 76th Street, 79th Street, 87th Street, 94th Street, 124th Street and 134th Street.

To lessen impact to beach-goers during daytime hours, Public Works crews will be working in these areas from 6 p.m. until 4 a.m. The repair work is expected to take about a week to complete. Due to safety regulations, the large equipment being used is equipped with back-up alarms. Though this may be an annoyance to some, it cannot be avoided. The Town will expedite the project as quickly as possible without sacrificing safety.

For more information about the project, please call 410-524-4733 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
