Tuesday, April 8 – Runners Eye Ocean City

OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Half Marathon and 5K will take place along the scenic roads of northeast Worcester County on Saturday morning.

The following is a look at some of the details of this event, which was scaled down considerably by Extreme Dream Events and does not include a full marathon this year.

When Is It?

Half-marathon starts on Saturday, April 12 starting at 7 a.m. and the 5K starts at 7:45 a.m.

Where Do Races Start?

Half-marathon starts at the Ocean City Inlet parking lot, while the 5K begins in the West Ocean City Park and Ride.

Where Do Races End?

Half-marathon will end at Assateague Island. Buses will be available to bring runners back to the Francis Scott Key Motel for the post-race party and a shuttle service will operate between the motel and the Inlet.

The 5K race will end at the Park and Ride close to the start of the race.

What’s Up After The Race?

The Caribbean Key at the Francis Scott Key will host the post-race party and awards ceremony, featuring random giveaways, pizza and beer for the runners and food available for purchase for family, friends and other spectators. The doors to the Key, a warm pirate-themed pool area, will open at approximately at 8 a.m. Therefore, it’s an ideal spot for family and friends to meet their favorite runners.

Are There Awards?

An awards ceremony for the 5K race will take place at 9 a.m. followed by the half-marathon awards at 10:15 a.m.

Awards will be presented to the top finishers overall male and female in both races. In addition, the top three finishers in the a number of age increments will be awarded including 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over.

Finisher medals will also be given to all half-marathon finishers.
