Promotions Announced
BERLIN – Raymond M. Thompson, president and C.E.O. of Calvin B. Taylor Banking Company, has announced the following promotions.
Peggy Welsh has been promoted to senior vice president. Welsh has been with Taylor Bank for 30 years She began her career as a teller at the 20th Street branch and became assistant branch manager, branch manager of the 91st Street office in 1986. Welsh was promoted to assistant vice president in 1987 and relocated to the 20th Street Office in 1998 where she now serves as regional manager for the Ocean City market.
Also promoted to senior vice president is Tina Kolarik, who joined the bank in 1979 as a Customer Service Representative and was promoted to branch manager of the 91st Street office in 1984. She has served as a branch manager at the West Ocean City and Ocean Pines offices and was promoted to regional manager of the Worcester County market in 2001.
Ray Robinson, Salli Goodrich, Wes McCabe and James Simon have been promoted to assistant vice president.
Goodrich joined the bank in 2002 as a manager of the Ocean View, Del. office and now serves as manager at the Ocean Pines office. Goodrich has over 25 years in banking and has worked in branch management, call center management and human resources development throughout her career.
McCabe has been with the bank since 2004. He began his career as a management trainee and was promoted to loan and business development officer in 2005. McCabe is located in the Ocean Pines branch.
Robinson has been with the bank 15 years and has worked at the main office as a teller, head teller, branch manager and operations officer. He is also the security officer and privacy officer for the entire bank. He currently serves as manager of the West Ocean City Office.
Simon has been with the bank since 2004. He currently serves as loan and business development officer at the bank’s 20th Street Branch. Simon has been in banking for 33 years, having held positions in lending and management.
New Store Coming To Outlets
WEST OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Factory Outlets and the Cordish Company have announced the leasing of a 3,500-square-foot space to Aéropostale, a leading mall-based, specialty retailer of casual apparel and accessories for today’s teenagers. The store expects to be open for business late this spring.
Aéropostale designs, markets and sells its own brand of casual, current apparel targeting 14- to 18-year-old men and women.
As of October 2007, Aéropostale operates 809 stores in the United States and Canada. The first Aéropostale store was opened in 1987.
New Development Head Hired
BERLIN – Atlantic General Hospital announced this week the hiring of Damian Magarelli as the new Director of Development. As director, Magarelli will work closely with the hospital’s foundation to foster continued support for the hospital and health system and build awareness of the hospital’s ongoing mission to provide quality care and education to improve individual and community health.
Magarelli comes to Atlantic General Hospital from the Maryland Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where he served as campaign director. While with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, he was responsible for managing a top performing campaign that raised more than $2 million annually within the chapter’s chartered area.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in health care administration from Columbia Union College in Tacoma Park, Md.
“I am passionate about the hospital’s mission,” said Magarelli, who is an 18-year resident of the shore. “I look forward to working with the Foundation and our community.”

OCEAN CITY – Rommel’s Ace on 68th Street recently congratulated Allan Beres of Ocean City for winning this month’s drawing.
General Manager Fred Hamill said the customer appreciation drawing, which created a lot of anticipation and excitement among customers and staff, is just a little way for the store to say thank you to all of its customers.
