St. Pat’s Parade Awards Announced

OCEAN CITY- The 28th Annual Delmarva Irish-American Club Saint Patrick’s Day Parade was held last Saturday in Ocean City with picture-perfect weather and thousands of spectators on hand.

All of the participants acquitted themselves well with a wide variety of floats, bands, historic vehicles and more. Following the parade’s judges conferred and awarded first place and honorable mention prizes to winners in several categories.

In the Marching Units category, the Chesapeake Caldonia Pipe and Drum group took first-place, while the Stephen Decatur Marching Band was awarded the honorable mention. Herman Fletcher’s 1928 Ford was awarded first-place in the Motorized Units category, while the Taz Cruiser was awarded the honorable mention.

In the Commercial Floats category, Celtic Nations Contractors was awarded the top prize, while Jimmy’s Grill received the honorable mention. In the Non-Commercial Floats category, Star Charities received the first-place award, while Believe in Tomorrow was awarded the honorable mention.

Ravens Roost #44 was awarded first-place in the Adult Groups category, while the Confederate/Union Re-enactors received the honorable mention. In the Youth Groups category, first-place went to the Stephen Decatur High School Naval ROTC, while the group from Chesapeake Martial Arts took home the honorable mention.

A Special Committee Award went to Pepper’s Tavern, while the Judge’s Choice Award went to BJ’s on the Water. Best Overall went to 98.1 Irie Radio.
