Man Faces Child Porn, Drug Charges After Police Raid

OCEAN CITY – An Ocean City man faces possible child pornography charges this week after a raid on his residence Tuesday night uncovered cocaine, paraphernalia and computer equipment believed to contain illicit material.

A Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit child pornography investigation led to the arrest this week of David E. Gose, 43, of Ocean City. State Troopers obtained a search warrant for Gose’s Jarvis Ave. residence and executed the warrant around 7 p.m. on Tuesday night with the help of the OCPD and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.

During the search, investigators found a lap-top computer and multiple discs, which will be examined by the Maryland State Police computer forensics laboratory to verify the child pornography images police believe they contain. Also found in Gose’s apartment was almost one ounce of suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia in a safe.

The Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation began last summer after the Computer Crimes Unit received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding someone in the Ocean City area uploading child pornography. The subsequent investigation found the individual, believed to be Gose, was using at least six screen names to upload hundreds of images from the Internet that were suspected to be child pornography.

Investigators from the MSP Computer Crimes Unit and NCMEC positively identified dozens of images as known child pornography that had been discovered in similar investigations. They were able to connect Gose to the uploading of child pornography after further investigation led to the identification of the username and the Internet provider address of the suspected computer.

Thus far, Gose has been charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional child pornography charges are expected pending the outcome of the forensic analysis of his computer equipment.

Gose was arrested on Tuesday night and taken to the MSP Berlin barrack for processing. He was expected to appear before a court commissioner late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning for a bond hearing.
