Marina Rios Chaconas

BERLIN – Marina Rios Chaconas, age 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at her home in Ocean City.

Born in Baltimore, she was the only child of the late Peter Efstratios and Voula Arniotis Rois. She is survived by a son, Aristides Evan Chaconas and his wife Christina Marie and their children Elizabeth Ann and Peter Rois Chaconas of North Carolina, and a daughter, Angel Chaconas and her husband James Gallagher of Ocean Pines.

Chaconas was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore and received secondary education from both University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University majoring in languages. As a young woman, she enjoyed a fashion and advertising modeling career. She had worked as a Spanish teacher at Hereford High School and also managed a family business in Baltimore. In 1978, she set out upon a new career in real estate with Moore, Warfield and Glick in Ocean City until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors. She loved the arts and used them as a means to raise funds for various charities. She was a prolific reader, she loved bridge and traveled extensively.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City. Michael Duane Keller

BERLIN – Michael Duane Keller, age 50, was found at his home in Ocean Pines on Dec. 15, 2007.

Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late William A. and Cleo L. Keller . He is survived by Jane Keller of Ocean Pines, his brother, Gary Keller and sister-in-law Cindy Keller and nieces Cody and Anna Keller of White Bear Lake, Minn.

Keller attended Salisbury University and worked during his life in the Eastern Shore restaurant and golfing communities. He will be missed for his good heart, humor, and love of life.

A graveside family service was held on Friday at Sunset Memorial Park in Berlin. The arrangements were directed by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Charles Alan Truitt

BERLIN – Charles Alan Truitt, age 47, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Charles R. Truitt. He is survived by his mother, Louise D. Truitt; great aunt, Pearl Wilkerson; and several cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Elsie Truitt and Charles and Mary Truitt Dennis.

A funeral service was held yesterday at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery in Willards.

Zeller Margaret A.

WINFIELD, Md. – On Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, Margaret A. Zeller died.

She was the beloved wife of Fred W. Zeller and devoted mother of David A. Zeller of Mulberry, Fla. and Barbara S. Knight of Thurmont, Md.

James C. Smith, Sr.

ELKRIDGE, Md. – James C. Smith, Sr. died on Monday, Dec. 24, 2007.

Smith was the beloved husband of the late Mrs. Dorothy E. Smith; loving father of James C. Smith and his wife Trudy, and Patricia Bergbower and her husband John; cherished brother of Shirley Douglas and Robert Smith; and adored grandfather of Emily Bergbower and David Moured.

At the request of the deceased, there will not be any formal services held. Cremation will take place at a later date. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Meadowridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Elkridge, Md.

Ethel N. Griffin

WILLARDS – Ethel N. Griffin, 92, of Willards, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Willards, she was the daughter of the late J. Edward Layton and Edna Mae Wilkins Layton.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace G. Nock, her second husband, Ernest Griffin, and a brother, Clarence Layton.

Griffin was a member of Eden United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Dize and her husband, Earl, of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Vicky Bradford and her husband, Bill, of Pittsville and Wallace "Wally" Mariner and his wife, Charlene, of Pittsville; two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Amanda Mariner; a sister, Nancy Timmons; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Interment followed in Lewis Cemetery in Willards.
