Christopher Chadwick Stuard

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Christopher Chadwick Stuart, age 17, died suddenly on Sunday Dec. 2, 2007.

Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Julie Ann Stuart and the late Christopher J. Stuart and step-father Edward Smith. He is survived by his grandparents, Gary and Doris Kuebler of Ocean Pines, Tessa Dole of Lexington, Ky., Charles Stuart and his wife Faith of Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Tessa Elizabeth Stuart and Cassie Ann Stuart; two step brothers, Christopher M. Smith and Edward K. Smith; his uncles, John Stuart of Lexington, Ky. and Andrew Stuart and his wife Bess of Winchester, Va.; his aunts, Diane Lawrence and her husband Ken, Carol Massey and her husband Wayne, and Sandra Crawford and her husband Scott; his cousins, Drew, Sandy, Harrison and Morgan Stuart, who were like brothers; his best friend, Chase Jenkins; and his girlfriend Kendal Saxton and her mother Anita Saxton  of Lexington, Ky. He is also survived by many cousins and close friends.

He attended Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Ky.

A funeral service was held yesterday at the Community Church of Ocean Pines. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery where he was laid to rest next to his father. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ocean City Worship Center Building Fund, 10736 Ocean Gateway, Berlin, Md. 21811.

Paul R. Long

BERLIN – Paul R. Long, age 74, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late James A. and Martha Kane Long. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Long; two sons, Chris Long of Selbyville, Del. and his long-time girlfriend Marsha Denny and Kevin Long and his wife Laure of Abingdon, Md.; a brother, Donald Long of Sparks, Md.; and two grandsons, Zachary and Andrew Long.

Long was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City. He loved playing golf and fishing. He was a wine expert and enjoyed fine dining. He had many friends who he loved to spend time with.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City where friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Brian Webster Pusey

BERLIN – Brian Webster Pusey, 32, artist and musician, died Nov. 26, 2007.

Pusey, a Snow Hill native, made his home in Los Angeles, Calif. for the past eight years. For the last six years, he has worked as a graphic artist for Cimarron Group, a highly regarded Hollywood advertising agency.

He graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park. During his undergraduate years, he honed his skills as an artist, poet and singer-songwriter. Performing at numerous shows and exhibiting his artwork, he garnered both critical acclaim and a multitude of fans.

In Los Angeles, he continued to record and perform his original music. In 2001, he released his eponymous first album. His sophomore work was entitled TJ Maxx. A website dedicated to his music can be found at www.provocal.com/brianpuseymusic.

A man of many creative passions, he loved to engage his friends and family in an expansive spectrum of topics including philosophy, politics, religion, art and music. He had a deep admiration and loyalty for his friends and never drew a line between friends and family. All whose lives were touched by him remarked on his distinctive individuality and generous soul.

A memorial service was be held at Makemie Memorial Presbyterian Church in Snow Hill on Sunday, Dec. 2.

The family requests that any donations in his memory be made to the Brian Pusey Art Scholarship Fund of Snow Hill High School care of Taylor Bank, 108 West Market Street, Snow Hill, Md. 21863.

He is remembered by his parents, Bill and Marty Pusey; his sisters, Katie Pusey, Sarah Dryden and her husband Michael Dryden; and his aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Perrie Waters and his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Pusey, Sr.

Virginia Ayres Satterfield

BERLIN – Amanda Virginia Ayres Spencer Satterfield, age 86, departed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 after a long illness.

Born on Aug. 6, 1921 in Whaleyville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Jacob Ayres and Dellie Collins Ayres. She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Thomas Crosby Satterfield; a son, Thomas Spencer and his wife Nancy of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandsons, Jacob and Justin Spencer of Jacksonville, Fla.; a nephew, Dr. James Brevard Ayres and his family; two cousins, Guy Ayres and his family of Ocean City and Melanie Merryweather and her family of Cambridge; and a host of well-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her beloved cats Annie and Molly.

She had taught at McDonogh School in McDonogh, Md. for 17 years and in the public school system for 17 years in Worcester and Baltimore counties. She had owned and operated the Ambassador Apartments/Hotel in Ocean City for many years with her son, Thomas Spencer, III.

She was a member of The General Levin Winder Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the Revolution, The National Society Southern Dames of America, The National Society of the First Families of Delmarva, The National Society Colonial Dames (XVII) 17th Century for which she was Chaplin, The National Society Sons and Daughters of Pilgrims, The National Society Daughters of American Colonist, and The National Society of Southern Women. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Worcester County and the Association of the University of Women.

A funeral service was held on Friday, Nov. 30 at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

David Michael Berman

OCEAN PINES – David Michael Berman, 67, of Ocean Pines, formerly of Baltimore and Eldersburg, Md., quietly passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Abraham and Belle Berman.

Berman was a firefighter and paramedic for the Baltimore City Fire Department, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Baltimore City Firefighters Union. One of his passions was riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Lois Berman; his daughter and her husband, Leabe Ann and Rocco Commisso; their two children, Isabella B. and Giada G. Commisso; and his sister, Anita Rosenbloom of Baltimore.

Services will be private.
