Decatur Blanks Easton, 28-0, to Improve to 3-1

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity football team earned a big win over an always-tough Easton team last weekend, routing the visiting Warriors, 28-0, to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Decatur jumped all over Easton early and built a steady lead on offense while the defense was outstanding in shutting down the Warriors. The 28-0 win over Easton last Friday was the second shutout of the season for the Seahawks, who routed Washington, 58-0, in the season opener.

Decatur’s record now stands at 3-1, its only loss coming to Delaware powerhouse Indian River, 42-16, in the second game of the season. In addition to the shutout wins over Washington and Easton, the Seahawks other victory this season include a 35-21 win over Kent Island two weeks ago.

Decatur hits the road tomorrow for an away game at Queen Anne’s, which also boasts a 3-1 record after the first month of the season. The Lions are coming off a 26-0 win over their own against North Caroline last weekend, so something will have to give when the regional rivals meet.

The Seahawks are now in second place in the Bayside South with a 1-0 conference record to go along with its 3-1 mark overall. Decatur trails powerhouse Wicomico, which is in first place in the conference with a 2-0 record and a 4-0 record overall.

Lurking just behind Decatur in the standings is Parkside, with a 1-1 conference record and a 3-1 mark on the season. The Seahawks face Parkside at home next Friday, October 12, and will get a showdown with front-running Wicomico at home on October 26. Sandwiched in between is a date with Bennett on the road.
