Seahawks Win Opener, 58-0

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity football team started its 2007 campaign off in impressive fashion last weekend, thumping visiting Washington High, 58-0, in the season opener to begin 1-0.

Decatur dominated the Jaguars in every aspect of the game, running up 58 points on offense without yielding any points on defense. Getting the early win was important for Decatur, which began the season last year with a 1-4 record before recovering to finish the season at 6-4.

The competition will get much tougher for the Seahawks tonight as they travel to Delaware to play the always strong Indian River in a rare non-conference game. The Indians beat the Seahawks, 31-14, last year and beat Decatur, 19-7, in the previous year. The game against Indian River gets underway tonight on the road at 7:30 p.m.
