David Harold Adams

BERLIN – David Harold Adams, age 48, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007 at Atlantic General Hospital.

Born in Haddon Heights, N.J., he was the son of the late Jean Ennis. He is survived by cousins James Rogers, Donald Rogers, Billy Rogers and Bobby Wilkerson.

Adams attended Milton Hershey School for Boys. He was a musician and songwriter.

Kenneth R. “Kenny” Polk

WESTBURY, N.Y. – Kenneth R. “Kenny” Polk died Sunday, Aug. 26 at Nassau University Medical Center.

A resident of Berlin and Ocean City for many years, Polk was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of Anne and the late Theodore Polk. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted wife, Sonni, of Westbury, N.Y.; daughter, Charlene of Berlin; and son, Kenny of Berlin. Also left behind are brothers, Ted and his wife Linda of Medford, N.Y. and Phil and his wife Rose of Corpus Christi, Texas, as well as many other members of his extended family throughout the mid-Atlantic states.

Polk graduated from Clarke High School in Westbury, N.Y., where he was the captain of the football team and attended Nassau Community College. He enjoyed working outdoors in landscaping and construction and especially loved the years he spent training racehorses. He was a loyal fan of the New York Rangers, Mets and Giants. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 from 7-9 p.m. at the Donohue-Cecere Funeral Home in Westbury, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, P.O. Box 763, Freehold, N.J. 07728.

Paula Anna Wolf

BERLIN – Paula Anna Wolf, age 87, died on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in McKeesport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna Graf Guiser. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wolf, in 1990.

She is survived by one daughter, Janice Olsen, and her husband, Gary of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sons, Kenny Wolf and his wife Terri of Boulder, Colo. and James Wolf of West Ocean City; one brother, Jerry Guiser of McKeesport, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Wolf.

She loved her family and friends. She enjoyed dancing and loved to party.

A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Woodlands of Ocean Pines, 1135 Ocean Parkway. A Memorial Service and Interment will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, at 2:30 p.m. at the Old Chapel at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Flowers may be sent to Arlington National Cemetary for the Sept. 7th burial or to the Woodlands of Ocean Pines for the Sept. 2 memorial or donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Maryland Chapter.

Esther Claire Muth

BERLIN – Esther Claire Muth, age 80, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lester and Lois Torrence Wakefield. She is survived by her beloved husband, Elmer Gordon Muth, and a daughter, Debra Nichols and her husband Mark of Roswell, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Muth Pilato. She is survived by three grandchildren, Christopher Pilato, Brooke Wasno, and Tim Nichols; two great grandchildren, McKinsey Wasno and Alex Wasno; a sister, Helen Basler of Peterus, Wash.; and a son-in-law, Edward Pilato of Harpers Ferry, WVa.

Muth was a former resident of Snow Hill Nursing Home for six-plus years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ocean City and the Swimming Women of Ocean Pines.

Services were held.

Elizabeth Myrtle Shipley

BERLIN – Elizabeth Myrtle Shipley, age 90, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. Schaub and Anna Maria Busch Schaub. She is survived by her sister, Rita Harris of Ocean City, and several nieces and nephews.

Shipley had worked as an inspector for Bendex Corporation during WWII inspecting radio parts. She was a member of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ocean City.

Loretta M. Littleton

BERLIN – Loretta M. Littleton 82, of Berlin died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 at Atlantic General Hospital.

Born in Whaleyville she was the daughter of the late Charley Cooper and Mollie Morris Quillin. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy P. Littleton in 1985.

Littleton was a member of the Stevenson United Methodist Church and the Ocean City Lioness Club. She loved gardening and cooking and playing cards with her friends.

Littleton is survived by her son, Brent Littleton of St. Martins; daughter Wanda Dero and her husband Tom of Berlin; two grandchildren, Jessica Littleton and friend Scott and Christopher Dero and wife Yoshie; several cousins; and her four precious pets, Colby, Mollie, Dollie and Clover; and numerous friends.

Services were held.

Robert Edward Young

BERLIN – Robert Edward Young, age 84, died Sunday, Aug, 26, 2007 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert C. and Edna Young. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn C. Young;  three sons, Robert B. Young and his wife Christine Kissmer, Dr. Mark C. Young and his wife Kamala "Kim", and Daniel J. Young and his wife Nancy Martin-Young; one daughter, Carol C. Thompson and her husband Kenneth; adored grandfather of Grace Young, Libby Young, Ashley Young, twins Jackson and Grant Young, Dylan Young, Sarah Young, Dan Young, Timothy Young, Carolyn Thompson, Charissa Thompson, and Caleb Thompson; loving brother of Doris Morris and Helen Adams and her husband Carlton; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Young had worked for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania for 42 years where he was the Assistant Vice President. He was a WWII Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Ocean City Post #166, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and Choir, the Kiwanis Club for many years and the Ocean Pines Golf Club.

Services were held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Young’s name to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, 10301 Coastal Hwy., Ocean City, Md. 21842.

Charles Hugh Moore

BERLIN – Charles Hugh Moore, age 57, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 in Dagsboro, Del.

Born in Baltimore he was the son of the late Harold and Marie Deputy Moore. He is survived by his sister, Karen Sue Coulbourne and brother-in-law Lee of Ocean City.

Moore was a graduate of Belmont Abbey in North Carolina. He had been an active athlete, golfer and tennis instructor at the Carousel for many years. Moore worked as a painter and in construction, He was active in community service through the Salisbury Baptist Temple. He was planning to pursue a career in ministry.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 3:30 pm at the Salisbury Baptist Temple. Interment will be at a later date in West Virginia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salisbury Baptist Temple, 6413 Hobbs Rd., Salisbury, Md. 21804.

Arrangements are by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Joe Ann Ewell Keyser

BERLIN – Joe Ann Ewell Keyser, age 79, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007 at her home in Newark.

Born in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Charles Calvin Ewell and Martha Agnes Kelly Ewell. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Vernon Keyser in 1991.

She is survived by her devoted companion, William Edward Fisher; two brothers, Paul C. Ewell and his wife Cathy Helmick of Berlin and Robert K. Ewell and his wife Judy of Newark; two nephews, Rod K. Ewell and Nathan Ewell; one niece, Kelly Ann Ewell; one great nephew, R.K. Ewell; and two great nieces, Katlyn Ewell Tingle and Mary Catherine Miller.

Keyser was a buyer with Hutzler’s Department Store in Baltimore, having worked there for over 35 years. She was a member of Stevenson United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin. Arrangements are by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
