We Remember Those Who Have Passed

Patsy Elaine Whitlock

BERLIN – Patsy Elaine Whitlock, age 50, died Monday, July 30, 2007 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of Winifred J. Riley and the late George Edward Riley, Sr. She is survived by her husband, John Wesley Whitlock, Jr.; two sons, John Wesley Whitlock, III and his fiancé Tanya Bellman and Tony Edward Whitlock and his friend Raye Ellen Carman; one daughter, Kimberly Elaine Dawn Whitlock and her fiancé Jason (Jake) Scott; two sisters, Barbara Ann Wimbrow and her husband Jay and Sandra Marie Bishop; one brother, George Edward Riley, Jr. and his friend Lynn Hackensmith; five grandchildren, Ricky Lee, Daniel Lee, Paris May, Emily Marie and Evan Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed her second family at Tall Pines Harbor Campground. She was a very talented scrap booker and found great joy in pictures of her friends and family. She leaves behind her two beloved Rottweiler companions, Cody and Dozier. She was employed by Bahama Mama’s and will be sadly missed by all the lives she touched.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Burbage Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bowen Cemetery in Newark.

Jennie Marie Murphy

BERLIN – Jennie Marie Murphy, 92, died on Sunday, July 29, 2007.

She was the beloved wife of James J. Murphy Jr. for 70 years; mother of Joe Murphy and Gloria Ford; grandmother of Terry, Debbie, Kathy and Brian; and great-grandmother of Kristen, Michael, Brady, Lane, Bradley, CJ, Emily, baby Sarah and the late Zachary.

Funeral services were held.

Daisie E. Gray

BISHOPVILLE – Daisie E. Gray, 94, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in St. Martin’s Neck near Bishopville and lived her entire life there, she was the daughter of the late James and Ida Baker. She is survived by her daughters, Betty L. Duncan of Selbyville and Bonnie L. Sturgis of Millsboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great grandson.

“Miss Daisie,” as she was affectionately known, was a lifelong member of Zion Methodist Church in St. Martin’s Neck. She was an avid gardener known throughout the area for her vegetable stand and her homemade sweet pepper relish. She enjoyed flowers, working in her garden and crocheting.

Funeral services were held.

Phyllis M. Mink

BERLIN – Phyllis M. Mink, age 85, died Friday, July 27, 2007 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude Crosby. She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis P. Walton and her husband Howard of Ocean City; a son, Robert J. Mink and his wife Frances of Havertown, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Mink was a member of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading.

Service and Interment are private. Arrangements are by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
